MLB Same Game Parlays & Picks: Monday (6/22)
With just three of the 13 games on the Major League Baseball slate between division rivals, there are plenty of unique matchups to scour for today’s MLB same-game parlays (SGPs).
I focus on two games between American League opponents, looking to build momentum by only needing one of my SGPs to cash to turn in a profitable day. Let’s dive into the two best MLB SGPs for Monday, June 22nd.

New York Yankees vs. Detroit Tigers
- Leg 1: Tigers Moneyline (+108)
- Leg 2: Dillon Dingler Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-114)
- Leg 3: Gerrit Cole Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-109)
Entering Saturday, New York had won nine of their last 12 games, while averaging 5.8 runs per game, belting 22 home runs and recording a team .826 OPS. And while the Yankees are 35-17 against teams with a losing record and 18-8 against left-handed starting pitchers, they flopped in their last game in those splits, losing 10-2 to Andrew Abbott and the Reds on Saturday.
Detroit will be no pushover, given that it entered Sunday with a 5-1 record over its last six home games. In that span, it averaged 6.3 runs per game, hit 13 home runs and posted a team OPS of .851.
Dillon Dingler was a big spark for the offense, hitting his team-leading 17th home run. And in the 10 previous games before Sunday, he batted .429 with seven extra-base hits and nine RBI.
I expect the Tigers to make Gerrit Cole work, and I am not expecting the positive regression from his 9.4 K/9 rate to come in this matchup. Cole is on pace to see his K/9 rate regress for the fourth straight season.

Houston Astros vs. Toronto Blue Jays
- Leg 1: Astros Moneyline (+102)
- Leg 2: Hunter Brown Under 2.5 Earned Runs (-153)
- Leg 3: Christian Walker Over 0.5 RBI (+188)
Dylan Cease ranks in the 99th percentile in strikeout rate thanks to a 37% whiff rate, and his 110 strikeouts lead all American League pitchers. But Houston ranks outside of the top 10 in lowest strikeout rate against right-handed pitching, and can frustrate Cease with a top-10 team ISO since the calendar turned to June.
Hunter Brown's splits before and after May 2024 are eye-popping. Before that time, he had pitched to a 5.69 ERA over 178.2 innings, while allowing a 1.6 HR/9 rate, .824 OPS, 44% hard-hit rate and 96% barrel rate.
Since May 2024, Brown has pitched to a 2.40 ERA over 348.2 innings (third, minimum 250 innings), a 0.8 HR/9 rate, .585 OPS, 30.4% hard-hit rate and 5.3% barrel rate.
One huge difference in those splits is Brown's development of a sinker, which he didn't throw at all before 2024, which he now throws 22.1% of the time. Since 2025, Brown also ranks eighth in FIP, eighth in strikeout rate, fifth in opponents' batting average, fourth in OPS and second in both hard-hit and barrel rates (minimum 170 innings).
While Christian Walker is in the midst of a seven-game RBI drought, his strengths suit him well against Cease. Cease's most often used pitch against right-handed batters, and one he generates most of his whiffs on, is his slider. But the good news for Walker is that he is slugging .725 on the 175 sliders he has seen this season (he has faced sliders 14.4% of the time).
Cease has also allowed multiple home runs in two of his last four starts, showing regression from what is on pace to be his best career HR/9 rate (0.6).
