MLB Same Game Parlays & Picks: Monday (8/24)
With just 10 games on Monday’s MLB slate, I offer my two best MLB same-game parlays (SGPs), while looking to build off of last week’s profitable week after a +238 cash.
The Phillies are the hottest team in baseball and are facing a team who only has had one three-game winning streak since the All-Star Break. I also look at the Rays-Tigers matchup where I clearly trust one of the struggling teams more than the other.

Tampa Bay Rays vs. Detroit Tigers
- Leg 1: Rays F5 Innings Moneyline (-154)
- Leg 2: Chandler Simpson 1+ Runs (+147)
- Leg 3: Junior Caminero 1+ Hits (-268)
Tampa Bay improved to 52-29 against teams with a losing record when it salvaged the final game of the series against Baltimore. But Detroit has been even less consistent having lost five straight and eight of nine, with three or fewer runs scored in four of the five losses during the losing streak.
The Rays used three relievers yesterday who combined for one earned run over three innings. But I'm limiting this moneyline wager to the first five innings since their bullpen had pitched to a 5.80 ERA with eight home runs allowed over the previous 2-7 stretch.
Chandler Simpson has been the Rays' hottest hitter of late. He enters amid a 14-game hit streak during which he has batted .407, while logging a .419 on-base percentage and .860 OPS. Simpson is a menace when he gets on base because of speed that is unmatched by any player in the game.
Junior Caminero hasn't homered in 11 straight games (his longest drought of the season is 12 games), but is still a threat to go yard with every swing as he leads the Majors in bat speed. He also has an extra-base hit or multi-hit game in three of the last five, so it isn't like he is completely lost at the plate.

Philadelphia Phillies vs. Seattle Mariners

- Leg 2: Kyle Schwarber 1+ RBI (+161)
- Leg 3: Randy Arozarena 1+ Strikeouts (-390)
The Phillies offense relied largely on the home run prior to acquiring Luis Arraez. However, it seems that his ability to put the bat on the ball has rubbed off on the rest of Philadelphia’s sluggers.
Philadelphia has tied its longest winning streak in 15 years. During the nine-game streak, it is averaging 7.1 runs per game, batting .321 with a .411 average with runners in scoring position, collectively logging a .875 OPS, and pitching to a 2.85 ERA.
Kyle Schwarber leads the Majors with 39 home runs and is seeking to join Ryan Howard as only other Phillies player with four or more 40-home run seasons. While I am not backing him to homer, he should continue to be a key run producer.
While Randy Arozarena has hit three home runs in the last two games, I expect Zack Wheeler to cool him off. Wheeler has held Arozarena to one single in 13 at-bats and seven strikeouts in their head-to-head encounters. It doesn’t take away from the incredible stat though that Arozarena is one of just five players in MLB history with six consecutive 20/20 seasons, joining Barry Bonds, Bobby Bonds, Bobby Abreu, and Willie Mays.
