MLB Same Game Parlays & Picks: Monday (9/14)
Monday’s MLB slate is much more loaded than usual for this late in the season, as 10 games are on tap to start the week. But given how hard it is to cash MLB same-game parlays (SGPs), I’m only adding two three-leg SGPs to my betting portfolio.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. Cincinnati Reds
- Leg 1: Dodgers -1.5 (-131)
- Leg 2: Tarik Skubal to Record the Win (-114)
- Leg 3: Teoscar Hernandez Over 1.5 Hits + Runs + RBIs (-137)
This is the day’s biggest mismatch between two opponents heading in opposite directions. Los Angeles entered Sunday amid an eight-game winning streak, its longest of the season. Over that span, the Dodgers averaged 6.3 runs per game and pitched to a 2.75 ERA. Conversely, Cincinnati was amid a five-game losing streak while being outscored 56-15.
Backing Tarik Skubal to earn the win falls in line well with the Dodgers’ chances of winning by two or more runs. The team has won each of his last four starts, while Skubal has gone 2-0 with a 2.77 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 29:4 K:BB rate. He is one of three pitchers with 16+ starts of at least seven innings and zero runs allowed since the start of 2022.
I’m adding value to this same-game parlay with a third leg for the red-hot Teoscar Hernandez. When the team had won six straight games, Hernandez was batting .526 with four extra-base hits and 10 RBIs over that span. He was consistent with producing at least one hit and an RBI in each game. And during a recent 10-game hit streak, he batted .514 with 14 RBIs and logged an RBI in a career-high seven consecutive games.

Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels
- Leg 1: Angels Moneyline (-106)
- Leg 2: Mariners Team Total Under 3.5 Runs (+110)
- Leg 3: Mike Trout 1+ Hits (-216)
The first leg of this SGP may seem risky despite Angels ace Reid Detmers toeing the rubber. Los Angeles had a 1-6 stretch in Detmers’ starts despite him allowing a .177 opponents’ batting average over that span. He also had a 1.55 ERA in an eight-start span.
Seattle ranks dead last in the Majors in several offensive categories against left-handed pitchers. That’s why I’m backing its team total under against a southpaw who has pitched to a 1.37 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and 10.3 K/9 in his first 10 starts since the All-Star break.
Detmers’ 191 strikeouts also speak to his elite swing-and-miss stuff. He is seeking to become the first Angels left-handed pitcher with a 200-strikeout season since Chuck Finley in 1999.
For nostalgia purposes, I’m adding Mike Trout as a third leg to the SGP. He was in the news recently for belting his 425th career home run, passing Edwin Encarnacion for 54th-most in MLB history in the process. He has hit safely in nine of his last 10 games.
