Tampa Bay Rays vs. Cleveland Guardians
- Leg 1: Drew Rasmussen Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-115)
- Leg 2: Parker Messick Over 4.5 Strikeouts (-120)
- Leg 3: Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 Total Bases (+150)
The Rays will send out Drew Rasmussen tonight. The right-hander has struck out 36.6% of lefties as a right-handed batter over the last month.
The Guardians’ projected lineup has only struck out 19.2% of the time against righties in the last 30 days. However, the lineup has eight lefties, three of whom have struck out over 26% of the time. Rasmussen has earned a 14.6% swinging strike rate against lefties in the last month and has held lefties to a .106 ISO and a wOBA of .211. I want to think he’ll go deep enough to land on six or more strikeouts.
That said, Jose Ramirez is one of the best hitters in the Guardians lineup. If anyone is going to step up, it’ll probably be him. He’s hit a .300 ISO and a .477 wOBA against his last 45 righties, while adding 36.1% of fly balls and a .364 BABIP. Plus, Rasmussen won’t pitch the entire game. Ramirez will have potential later in the game, as well.
On the other hand, the Guardians will roll with Parker Messick. He’s a lefty who has struck out 25.4% of righties in the last month. He’s also earned 26.8% of strikeouts against righties this season.
The Rays’ projected lineup has struck out over 19% of the time and has three players who have struck out at least 25% of the time against lefties in the last month. The Rays have hit a .062 ISO and a wOBA of .273 against lefties over the last month. We’ll add Messick to earn at least five strikeouts tonight.
