Texas Rangers vs. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are set to pitch Roki Sasaki today. Unfortunately, he’s struggled against lefties since entering the league last year. The right-hander allowed a .198 ISO and wOBA of .341 to 96 lefties last season and has given up a .250 ISO and wOBA of .393 to all lefties faced this year.

The Rangers have some lefties that can do damage, too.

Brandon Nimmo has smashed a .177 ISO and wOBA of .340 against righties dating back to last season. His strikeout rate is just a little over 20%, which isn’t so bad against righties.

Corey Seager has added a .233 ISO and wOBA of .393 against righties since last season, too. He’s hit 32.6% of fly balls with a team-best 16.7% barrel percentage against righties during this stretch.

Finally, Evan Carter has knocked a .167 ISO and wOBA of .349 against righties since last season. He’s also kept his strikeout rate down and has hit a 30% line drive rate against righties during that time. He’s got the highest line drive percentage against righties in the projected lineup. That should help him land a couple of hits or an extra base hit.

      Cleveland Guardians vs. Atlanta Braves

Chris Sale will step on the mound for the Atlanta Braves tonight for Sunday Night Baseball. The lefty has struck out 25.4% of batters this season, but he added 32.1% of strikeouts last season. Ultimately, he’s set to face a Guardians projected lineup that has five batters who have struck out at least 25% of the time against lefties since last season.

On the other hand, Tanner Bibee will start for the Guardians. He’s allowed a .323 ISO and wOBA of .356 against 36 lefties this year. Those lefties have added 72.7% of hard contact with a 13.6% barrel percentage.

Let’s take advantage of lefties Drake Baldwin and Matt Olson. Baldwin has added a .219 ISO and wOBA of .364 against righties since last year. He’s also struck out 15.3% of the time against righties, while hitting 25% of line drives.

Meanwhile, Matt Olson has slugged a team-best .236 ISO against righties since last season. He’s earned a .385 wOBA against righties with 69.6% of hard contact and a 15.8% barrel percentage against righties since last year. This is a good matchup for Olson!
