Kansas City Royals vs. Minnesota Twins
- Leg 1: Byron Buxton Over 1.5 Total Bases (-135)
- Leg 2: Michael Massey Over 1.5 Total Bases (+150)
- Leg 3: Seth Lugo Under 4.5 Strikeouts (+106)
The Kansas City Royals will send out Seth Lugo for tonight’s contest. The right-hander has allowed a .281 ISO and a wOBA of .365 to his last 37 righties. In addition, those righties have hit 41.4% of fly balls and only 37.9% of ground balls. Lugo has struck out just 18.4% of batters over the last 30 days and has allowed a 13.2% barrel rate.
Meanwhile, the Twins have struck out less than 21% of the time against righties using their projected lineup over the last month. Additionally, Byron Buxton, one of the few Twins who has struck out a lot against righties, has also hit a .329 ISO and a wOBA of .359. With those numbers, I’ve got way more confidence in Buxton socking the ball than striking out.
On the other hand, Andrew Morris will get the bulk of the work for the Twins tonight. The righty has given up a .227 ISO and a wOBA of .355 to his last 24 lefties. Michael Massey of the Royals has added a .260 ISO and a wOBA of .362 against righties over the last month as a left-handed batter. He can surely do some damage tonight.

Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Houston Astros
- Leg 1: Yordan Alvarez Over 1.5 Total Bases (-115)
- Leg 2: Jared Jones Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-106)
- Leg 3: Kai-Wei Teng Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-142)
The Pittsburgh Pirates will give Jared Jones another start tonight. He returned from an injury last week and didn’t look great in his season debut. That said, he still struck out 28.6% of batters in that game and will face an Astros lineup that has hit a .156 ISO and a wOBA of .291, with almost 24% of strikeouts against righties over the last month.
Only Yordan Alvarez has hit good numbers against righties for the Astros. He’s added a .284 ISO and a wOBA of .420 against righties and should continue to do the same against Jones, who didn’t look particularly great against lefties in that debut.
Astros righty Kai-Wei Teng has struck out 29.3% of lefties and will face a bunch of lefties in the Pittsburgh lineup. However, he’s also walked 24.4% of lefties over the last 30 days and has given up 44.4% of hard contact.
Teng might dance around trouble, but it’s unlikely he’ll get very deep in this game. Plus, the Pirates’ projected lineup has just three batters who have a strikeout rate above 22% against righties over the last 30 days.
