MLB World Series Same Game Parlay Picks & Predictions: Phillies/Astros Game 6 (11/5)

The Astros can close out the World Series tonight in Houston. They were able to come up big in the last two games in Philadelphia, including a game where they made history with the second World Series no-hitter. Has the Astros completely shifted the series in their direction, or is there a little magic left for the Phillies?

Zack Wheeler Under 5.5 strikeouts (-160)

You saw very quickly in Game 2 that Wheeler was not on his A-Game, and you cannot have that type of performance when facing a lineup like the Astros. Wheeler likes to attack with his fastball and has an excellent whiff rate with the pitch. Because Houston was a great fastball-hitting team, he went to secondary pitches more often in Game 2 and left them over the plate early on, resulting in that three-run first.

Wheeler finished the season with a strikeout rate in the 74th percentile, but he’ll see the lineup with the second-lowest strikeout percentage this year, and even if he goes with his fastball more, I don’t see a high strikeout night.

Framber Valdez Over  6.5 strikeouts (+110)

On the other side, Valdez went heavy with his breaking balls and saw a ton of success. In Game 2, he threw his curveball and sinker at about 80% of his pitches, which is higher than any other start this season. Those pitches were on point, and we saw Phillies batters chasing throughout the game.

We’ll see early if Valdez can get the Phillies to bite again. These are the exact type of pitchers the Phillies seem to struggle against, and they finished the regular season with the fourth-highest chase rate and in the middle of the pack in the chase contact rate.

Astros -1.5 (+152)

I think many of us want to see a Game 7. There have been exciting moments in this series, and what would be better than a winner-take-all? Unfortunately, I don’t see it happening.

Whether or not anyone on the Phillies wants to admit it, getting no-hit at home in the World Series is a massive momentum killer. Even in Game 5, they were able to keep the game close, but they couldn’t get the big hit. When Chas McCormick made the leaping grab at the wall, it might be a sign the Phillies’ magic might have disappeared.

If Valdez can carry a lead into the fifth, it is all hands on deck in the Astros bullpen, and they have proven that they can close out a game all season.
