The NBA All-Star weekend is almost here, and anticipation is high. From the NBA’s inception, the All-Star game has been played, and through time, it has grown to be one of the league’s major occasions. In addition, the league has established a number of All-Star Weekend side activities, including the Celebrity Game, which we’ll dive into today.

Since its inception in 2003, the Celebrity Game has continued to take place during All-Star Weekend. Being the opening event of All-Star Weekend, this occasion serves as the ceremonial opening. The game includes performers including musicians, actresses, athletes from several sports, and WNBA players; this diversity adds to the fun of the occasion.

On Friday, February 17, The Celebrity Game will begin at 7 p.m. EST, taking place in Salt Lake City, Utah, like the rest of All-Star Weekend, but unlike the main event, it won’t be at Vivint Arena, the home of the Utah Jazz. The Jon. M. Huntsman Center, where the basketball teams from the University of Utah call home, will serve as the venue for the contest.

The Celebrity Game is unique not just because it comprises basketball players who are not normally basketball players but also because it has its own set of regulations. Instead of 12, there are only 10-minute quarters. Each side is allowed one timeout per half, and the clock only stops during timeouts, the final two minutes of a half, or at the officials’ discretion.

A yard behind the traditional three-point line, there is also a four-point line, which is more unusual. Also, there is a feature called “Unlock a Legend” that enables each side to add an NBA great in the middle of a match.

Finally, “Ruffles Crunch Time,” a brand-new element this year, doubles point values for a two-minute period. All of these peculiarities give the Celebrity Game a unique vibe and unquestionably increase its entertainment value.

Last year, we saw the famed Peloton instructor Alex Toussaint take home the MVP, as he returns this year to Team Dwyane looking to become just the third multi-year MVP in the game’s history. If he wants to follow in the footsteps of Terrell Owens and Kevin Hart, he’ll have some stiff competition on the other side in the form of Calvin Johnson (NFL Hall-of-Famer) and Cordae (Rapper), to name a few.

In the end, I like his comfort level in the game here to reign supreme.

Best Bet: Alex Toussaint
