NBA All-Star Game: Three-Point Contest Odds, Bets & Picks (Saturday)

by February 16, 2023
Saturday's Best Bets: NBA All-Star Game, College Basketball, NHL & UFC

On Saturday, the NBA will hold three different and unique competitions: the skills competition, three-point, and slam dunk contest.

The league usually does a fantastic job with Saturday’s portion of All-Star Weekend. They’ve created an incredible lineup of players who can show off their skill set in competitions.

I’ll break down my thoughts on the NBA Three-Point Contest. Last year, everyone was shocked when Karl-Anthony Towns won the contest when he was projected to finish last. It’s a wide-open field. Nothing is ever a lock in these competitions.

Best NBA All-Star Three-Point Contest Bets

(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

Damian Lillard

FanDuel has Buddy Hield with a higher probability than Damian Lillard. I’m afraid I have to disagree.

Lillard is coming off three straight games with at least 38 points. In those three games, he’s attempted 44 three-pointers. Fatigue won’t be an issue for Lillard.

In February, he attempted an average of 11.6 threes and has still hit over 37.5% from downtown. He’s got ridiculous range, a quick release, and the stamina to keep up throughout the tournament. Give me Lillard as the favorite.

Bet: Damian Lillard (+470 )

Kevin Huerter

Huerter improved his game when he went to Sacramento. He’s shot 47.8% from the field, and many of his shots are from downtown.

Over the last month, Huerter has struggled from downtown. That might keep people away from the sharp-shooter. But he’s still hit seven of his last 16 threes over the last two games. This season, he’s nailed over 39% from downtown. He’s gradually improved year after year and has a beautiful shot and stroke.

At +600, there’s some value on Huerter. He’s got one of the purest three-point shots in the NBA, which could bode well for him during the contest.

Bet: Kevin Huerter (+600

Tyrese Haliburton

If you’re looking for a middle-of-the-pack three-point shooter, I will go with Tyrese Haliburton. He’s had a lot of naysayers and continues to put his head down and work.

Haliburton averages under 20 points per game while shooting 48% from the field. He’s not shooting a high volume like Lillard but has improved his three-point shot this month, nailing 40% from downtown on 6.3 attempts per game.

The young stud point guard continues to develop into an all-around player. His three-point shot is looking nice this season for the Pacers. He could be a middle-of-the-pack dark horse.

Bet: Tyrese Haliburton (+650)
