Tuesday’s NHL calendar has an 11-game slate with some high-value matchups in betting markets. I’ll be focusing on three games, including the Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes, New York Islanders vs. Nashville Predators, and Minnesota Wild vs. Utah Mammoth.
My NHL Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (10/20) settled 1-2. The Devils had a strong 4-3 win in regulation over the Avalanche at home as a pick’em on the moneyline. Unfortunately, Minnesota’s 3rd-period rally led to an overtime loss against the Oilers, losing the Wild moneyline at plus odds. Under 6.5 lost during the Lightning’s 6-2 road win over the Golden Knights.
Let’s bounce back with a winning night on the ice. I’ve got 3 of my favorite plays to tail, each worth 1 unit, ahead of tonight’s opening puck drops.

Boston Bruins vs. Carolina Hurricanes Picks
Two of the league’s best goaltenders will go head-to-head in tonight’s game between the Bruins and Hurricanes. Jeremy Swayman (2.20) and Pyotr Kochetkov (1.70) are a combined 14-1-1 this season, so expect goals to be at a premium amongst these top-tier Eastern Conference opponents.
The goal total sits at 6.5. Each of the Bruins’ last 5 games against the Hurricanes after a win has finished under the goal total line.
Boston has also gone Under 6.5 in 4 of its last 5 contests. Carolina is 3-2 for Under 6.5 in its last 5 games played.
Let’s bet Under 6.5 for the first best bet on Tuesday’s NHL board.
Pick: Under 6.5 (-125)
New York Islanders vs. Nashville Predators Picks
The Predators host the Islanders, entering this game as a slight betting favorite at -122 odds. Nashville has won each of its last 7 home games played against the Islanders.
New York has lost 2 straight games and is expected to start Semyon Varlamov in net. The Islanders’ back-up goaltender is 0-1-2 as a starter this season, while Juuse Saros is 3-2-3 with a 2.82 GAA.
The Islanders have also lost the 1st period in 4 straight road games against Central Division opponents. The Predators are coming off an impressive 6-2 win over the Avalanche at home on Sunday.
Let’s bet on the side that tends to win this head-to-head matchup. Bet on the Predators moneyline as a small home favorite at -122 odds.
Pick: Predators Moneyline (-122)
Minnesota Wild vs. Utah Mammoth Picks
I’m going right back to the Wild as a small road underdog in Utah. The Mammoth are expected to start Karel Vejmelka in net, who has allowed 14 goals in his previous 3 combined starts.
Minnesota is 14th in goals scored per game (3.15) this season. The Wild have won 2 of their last 3 games, winning by at least a 2-goal margin. The Mammoth rallied to beat the Lightning 5-4 in overtime in their last game and have an extra day rest advantage heading into tonight’s tilt in Salt Lake City.
The biggest differentiator is the Wild goaltender in this game. Jesper Wallstedt is expected to start. He has a 7-2-2 record with a stout 2.08 GAA and .918 save percentage, allowing 2 or fewer goals in 3 of his previous 4 starts for Minnesota.
Bet on the Wild to win outright as a slight underdog against the Mammoth tonight.
Pick: Wild Moneyline (+105)
