(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Jalen Johnson Over 22.5 Points (-132)
Jalen Johnson is a rising star in the NBA. The Atlanta Hawks forward has scored at least 23 points in 56% of games this season. He’s also hit this line in five of his last six games.
In the last five games, Johnson has a usage of 26.3%. He also has multiple trips to the foul line in all of them and has attempted at least three three-pointers in each.
Tonight, Johnson will take on a Wizards defense ranked dead last in points allowed to small forwards. Johnson attempted 22 shots in his previous game against Charlotte. That might dip slightly with Kristaps Porzingis back. Still, the volume should be there against an inept Wizards defense. Plus, Johnson has shot 54% from the field over the last five games, while attempting nearly 17 shots per game.
Tyrese Maxey Over 3.5 Rebounds (-154)
Tyrese Maxey is a bona fide scorer. But he’s also adding a solid amount of rebounds per game. This season, he’s earned at least four rebounds in 69% of games. He’s also added at least four rebounds in seven of his last 10 games.
Maxey squares off against a Magic squad ranked 20th in defensive rebounds and 19th in total rebounds allowed to point guards. That’s a below-average number. Maxey has averaged at least four rebounds in nearly 70% of his games this year.
Maxey has earned 7.7 rebound chances per game over the last 10 games. Expect those numbers to carry over into tonight’s action.
Luka Doncic Over 8.5 Assists (-108)
Luka Doncic has added at least nine assists in 50% of games this season. In addition, he’s earned at least nine assists in seven of his last 11 games against the Clippers.
The Clippers have never been able to stop Doncic’s passes. They’ve also struggled to stop point guards from accumulating assists over the years. This year, the Clippers rank last in assists allowed to point guards. Plus, Doncic has averaged 15 potential assists per game and just had 20 potential assists in his latest game against the Utah Jazz.
Even with LeBron James back, the ball has been in Doncic’s hands a lot. His usage rate has increased slightly since James returned. Look for Doncic to make the right reads in tonight’s game against the Clippers. Let’s take his over in the assists category to close out our bets for tonight.
