NBA Power Rankings: Week 12 (2022)

After last week’s rankings, we’ve seen some heavy movement from a couple of teams. In Week 12, the Utah Jazz and Chicago Bulls are two leapers, while the Cleveland Cavaliers have dropped a few spots.

Where’s The Value?

Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz are currently second in our power rankings, yet, they’ve got the sixth-best odds to win the championship. Utah is currently 27-10 on the year and has been getting ridiculous contribution from Donovan Mitchell.

The Jazz are one of the deeper teams in the league. After watching Milwaukee win last year, it’s easy to think the Jazz could win it this year with great size, athletics, and scoring on the team.

After heading to Denver to face the Nuggets, the Jazz will take on the Raptors, Pacers, and Pistons on the road. While it’s still a road trip, at least the Jazz will have some pretty easy games on the schedule. If the Jazz sweep the board this week, championship odds won’t be as good as they are now.

Chicago Bulls

Last week, we had the Bulls as one of the valuable teams due to the squad getting healthy. The Bulls didn’t disappoint and are now in our top five for the week.

The Bulls were +3000 last week and they’re now +2400. We were right with our prediction last week, and the odds are now starting to fall. But at +2400, in comparison to the rest of the field, the Bulls still have some serious value. This team can be competitive and do some things.

Teams You Should Stay Away From

Brooklyn Nets

We know the Nets will make the postseason, and with Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden, the Nets should be just fine in their quest for a championship. But the odds don’t make sense right now. The Nets have lost three straight games at home to the 76ers, Clippers, and Grizzlies. I wouldn’t want to put my money on a team that has looked this bad recently.

Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks are only 16-20 on the season and now have Trae Young listed as questionable for Wednesday’s game. Atlanta has been hit with lots of COVID recently, but I still don’t think there’s a buy-low spot on the Hawks at +4200. Other teams that have the same record have +16000 odds or lower.

Don’t be betting on teams that aren’t even in the playoff hunt right now. That’s a great way to lose money!
