NBA Power Rankings: Week 22 (2022)

As we approach postseason play, our NBA Power Rankings are starting to shape up. We’re now in Week 22 of the season and already in the middle of March. Some teams are still waiting to get healthy to make a run at the Championship while other teams are currently taking a leap in the standings.

I’ve got my eye on a couple of teams that could see their odds decrease in the next few weeks.

Check out our Power Rankings for Week 22 below and determine which team has the most value in the futures market, including odds of winning the NBA Championship via FanDuel.

Where's The Value?

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks are currently 42-26 on the season and are 19-16 in games against teams above .500. Being over .500 against top teams in the league is crucial and shows me that Dallas can compete with Luka Doncic leading the way. Not every team around the Mavericks is having success against good teams. The Nuggets are 14-21 against teams above .500 while the Timberwolves are 16-19. The Mavs deserve some credit here. There's value at +4000. Luka has to win a title at some point, right?

Utah Jazz

It scares me that the Jazz are just 1-6 in games decided by one possession. But the law of averages would have me believe that the Jazz are going to start winning those close games. Utah is still 42-25 on the season and is listed at +1800 to win the Championship, despite sitting in fourth place in the West.

When this team is connected, the Jazz can beat anyone.

Teams You Should Stay Away From

Chicago Bulls

It's been a fun ride with the Bulls. However, they are just 13-19 against teams above .500 and are currently struggling against those top-tier teams in the East. The Bulls have now dropped to +3600 to win the NBA Championship and, while the Bulls will be healthier soon, I'm not high enough on Chicago. If the Bulls have to face the Celtics in the first round, Boston would absolutely win that series.

Denver Nuggets

Denver won't be winning anything this season. Nikola Jokic is a great piece to have and he's going to be close to winning the MVP award. But the reality is that the Nuggets need Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. back in the lineup before they'll have another chance at winning the NBA Championship. Denver has feasted against really bad teams, and that's ultimately what it comes down to with the Nuggets. They can beat poor teams but struggle against the premier ones.
