NBA Same Game Parlays & Picks: Thursday (Pacers vs. Knicks)

The Indiana Pacers currently lead the Eastern Conference Finals 3-1. They need just one more win to advance to the NBA Finals. However, the Knicks are currently multiple-possession favorites against the Pacers in tonight’s Game 5. If the Knicks can pull out a win in Game 5, they’d force a Game 6 in Indiana.

This series has been extremely exciting.

All four games have been tight throughout, unlike the Thunder-Timberwolves series, which barely had any excitement. That said, I’ve built a same-game parlay (SGP) for tonight’s Game 5 matchup in the Eastern Conference Finals below.

Indiana Pacers vs. New York Knicks

It’s been a weird series for Bennedict Mathurin. The Indiana small forward has scored at least nine points in two out of four games in this series. However, he added just two points total in the other two games. Mathurin has been highly inconsistent, and as a result, his playing time has been sporadic as well.

That said, he finished with 20 points for the Pacers in Game 4, despite playing only 12.5 minutes. His usage rate increased to 43.7% in that game, and he took 11 free throws. Mathurin was aggressive, which was nice to see. Ultimately, the Knicks rank 26th in free throws attempted by small forwards this year, so Mathurin getting to the foul line was on brand. His role will likely increase in Game 5.

On the other hand, Jalen Brunson hasn’t added more than three rebounds in any game of this series. In 37 minutes in Game 4, Brunson had only two rebound chances. In the last 10 games, Brunson has averaged below six rebound chances per game. Even if he brought down 50% of his rebound opportunities, which is unlikely, he’d add three rebounds. Brunson has hit this line in just 31% of games this season and has earned at least four rebounds in just six of his last 21 games against the Pacers.

Additionally, Brunson finished with just five assists in Game 4 as well. He’s added six assists in his last two games combined for the Knicks. Ultimately, he had one game with 11 assists in the series. But in the game the Knicks won, Brunson finished with just one assist. I like the Knicks to win and think Brunson will score a ton of points. But if that’s the case, it’s unlikely he’ll fill up the box score with assists and rebounds. We’ll fade him in those two categories.
