New Orleans Saints vs. Tennessee Titans Odds & Game Pick (2021)

A pair of teams without their stars will go at it Sunday in Nashville, as the 5-3 Saints head east to take on the 7-2 Titans. With injuries causing both offenses to re-evaluate at the halfway mark of the season, let’s take a closer look at both teams holistically and see where the value remains as kickoff approaches.

Overview

Coming into this one atop the AFC standings, the Titans are playing as well as any team in the league. Still, things should get a bit tougher over the next couple of months, as star running back Derrick Henry is sidelined indefinitely with a broken foot.  However, their first game without him went just fine as they marched into NFC favorite Los Angeles (Rams) last week, picking up a 28-16 win dominating much of the afternoon.

For the visiting Saints in this one, last week without their starting quarterback (Jameis Winston) didn’t go quite as well, losing at home to the Falcons 27-25 in a game they needed to stay in contention within the NFC South. While their offense will likely continue to struggle as they find their new guy at QB, the Saint’s defense should continue to be elite; especially against the run game.

Through eight games so far this season, the Saint’s lead the league in allowing just 73.8 yards per game and 3.2 yards per carry, an area they’ll look to capitalize on again this week against the new running back by committee approach for the Titans.

Trends

  • Under 4-1 in Saints L5 games in November
  • Saints 5-0 ATS in L5 coming off an ATS loss
  • Titans 5-0 in L5 games

Bottom Line

Despite the loss, Saint’s backup QB Trevor Siemian played well for the team throwing for 249 yards and two touchdowns in his first start for the franchise. From all accounts, he has the full confidence of his team and coaches,  and if it were not for several key drops last week, he likely would’ve pulled the win out after leading three late touchdown drives to put them ahead before a game-losing field goal.

In this one, I like for the loss of Henry to catch up with the Titans and for the Saints to pull this one off outright.

Pick: Saints +3
