New York Giants vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Odds & Game Pick (2021)

Following a torrid start to the season that had many pundits saying the Bucs were on the path to repeating as Super Bowl Champs, the team has promptly fallen back to earth, losing two straight on the road to the Saints and Football Team. Their foe in this one, the Giants, is trending in the opposite direction, having won two of three after a poor start.

Let’s see where things lie in this one.

Details

  • Opening Line: Buccaneers -11.5, O/U 50.5
  • Current Line: Buccaneers -11, O/U 49.5
  • Last meeting: November 2, 2020, Buccaneers 25, Giants 23

Overview

A self-described “dumb team,” Bucs head coach Bruce Arians was less than impressed with his team’s 10-point loss as 10-point favorites last week on the road at Washington. In a game in which Tom Brady threw for just 98 yards, their rushing attack was the one bright spot racking up 149 yards on the afternoon.

On the defensive side of the ball, the Bucs remain one of the league’s best, allowing just 334 yards of offense per game, including just 79.8 yards on the ground.

With that, rushing yards should be at a premium once again this week for the visiting Giants, who are coming into Monday night rank near the bottom of the league in rushing for just 95.9 total yards per game. If not for the five interceptions on the season, QB Daniel Jones would be having his best season to date, throwing for over 2,000 yards to this point and turning in his best Rating (104.2) of the season last week vs. the Raiders.

Trends

  • Under is 5-0 in Giants L5 November games
  • Under 8-1 in Giants in L9 games following an ATS loss
  • Underdog 3-0-1 in L4 meetings between these two

Bottom Line

After opening up at -11.5, the sharps and public alike may have lost (temporarily) faith in this Bucs team as most of the money so far has poured in on the visiting Giants. While the team of the last two weeks, especially last week in Washington, has been borderline unrecognizable, I expect that to change sooner rather than later as Brady and the offense get some key weapons back.

Though it’s early, signs are pointing towards the return of Antonio Brown this week, which should be just the spark this unit needs.

Pick: Buccaneers -11.5
