Who is your favorite value bet to win the AFC?

Jaguars: 25/1
“If not for a blown call on a fumble in the AFC Championship game, Jacksonville would have advanced to the Super Bowl just 13 months ago. They accomplished all of that with Blake Bortles under center. It will almost certainly be Nick Foles, Ryan Fitzpatrick, or dare I say, Josh Rosen this coming year, and the rest of their core has stayed in place. The defense can still be dominant, and if the offensive line and Leonard Fournette stay healthy, you can bet the running game takes off as well. The Jags are by no means the favorite, but if you give me 25/1 odds on a team with this much talent, I’ll take it all day.”

“Prior to looking at the odds, I was prepared to select the Browns for this poll. Then I saw they have moved up significantly (12/1), while the Jaguars have moved down rather quickly. Most seem to forget that they still have the best defense in the league, though it may have not seemed like it last year when they were continually on the field thanks to the blunders of the offense. They’ll have a new quarteraback under center in 2019, one who’s a lot less turnover prone than Blake Bortles and Cody Kessler. As long as they can play a competent, ball-control-style offense, then the defense will carry them through into the playoffs where anything can happen.”

Texans: 15/1
“The AFC feels like a mess after the top couple teams and that includes the Texans, but they probably have the longest odds of any team with a legit quarterback. If they can stay healthy at receiver, that’d be huge for Deshaun Watson, and I also assume they’ll try and upgrade along the offensive line. If the defense can stay relevant, they should be headed to the playoffs again at a minimum.”

Chiefs: 3/1
“The Kansas City Chiefs look like the best value to win the AFC championship. This was a tough one because while there are many teams I considered such as the Los Angeles Chargers, Cleveland Browns, and the Houston Texans, the Chiefs are one of two teams with a realistic shot to payout at this point in the offseason. The Chiefs are a few additions away from being the runaway favorite to take the AFC. Their offseason shopping list includes a running back, a defensive tackle or two, an edge rusher or two that fit in the with 4-3 base that they will be shifting to, a versatile safety that can play in the box, and also cover the slot. At 3-1 the payout here will be nothing to write home about but it is the type of wager that has a chance to present value as their odds to win the championship may quickly go to 2.5 or even 2-1 by the time the regular season rolls around. Lock this one in early.”
