A banged up 49ers offense travels to Minnesota to take on the Vikings for Week 7 Monday Night Football. These were two playoff teams in 2022, but they've headed in opposite directions so far in 2023. However, injuries on both sides may play a big role in the outcome of this game. Let's take a deeper dive into the matchup.

San Francisco 49ers at Minnesota Vikings

The 49ers will be a little short handed on offense for this game. Do-it-all WR Deebo Samuel will be out for this game and RB Christian McCaffrey is questionable. These could be big losses for the 49ers, but they've showed often over the last few years that the offensive system is plug-and-play. Perhaps only Miami is more balanced offensively as the 49ers who are top five in both run offense and pass offense DVOA. If you can shut down the run, they'll beat you in the air and vice versa.

Minnesota has fallen back down to earth after some good fortune in one score games last year. When it comes to advanced statistics like DVOA, Minnesota is about as average of a team as they come. The loss of star WR Justin Jefferson hurt the Vikings last week. QB Kirk Cousins managed only 181 yards against a dreadful Chicago pass defense and he certainly could use Jefferson against an elite defense in San Francisco. The Vikings haven't really been able to get the run game going after letting Dalvin Cook walk in the offseason and again, San Francisco is not the defense to start getting that going.

If San Francisco was fully healthy, this line would probably be double digits. Deebo, and McCaffrey if he doesn't play, are key pieces for the 49ers. However, they have so many other elite weapons that I don't think it will matter. San Francisco is a juggernaut and after a disappointing loss last week, they've be looking to get back on the winning side in a big way.
