NFL Prop Bets: Week 2 (2019)

NFL Prop Bets for Week 2 is a chance to build on a solid Week 1 of bets. This week we target an offense in rebound spot, a running back looking to do the same, and a quarterback match-up that seems to have lopsided odds.

Before we take a look at which Week 2 NFL Props I like, let’s take recap a solid Week 1. The Carolina Panthers and Los Angeles Rams went over 5.5 touchdowns (Winner!) even though it was not pretty. Deshaun Watson’s passing touchdown at the end of the fourth quarter put him one touchdown over Drew Brees (Winner!).

As for the bets that didn’t come through? Miles Sanders didn’t score a touchdown, at least one that counted. He found pay dirt but it was called back thanks to a penalty on his offensive line. Darren Waller didn’t score a touchdown, let alone two despite totaling 70 yards on seven catches.

As for which NFL prop bets I like in Week 2?

Total Touchdowns – Pittsburgh Steelers 2.5 – Over (-148)

I am expecting a massive difference between the Pittsburgh Steelers team we saw on Sunday night against the Patriots and the one that will take the field on Sunday. They are currently a four-point favorite at home, a number I expect them to cover and then some.

The Seattle Seahawks are coming to town after squeezing out a win at home against Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals. The Seahawks’ defense is vulnerable even with the addition of Jadeveon Clowney.

It will be a big day for Ben Roethlisberger, Juju Smith-Schuster, and James Conner as the Steelers score at least three touchdowns on Sunday. You have to lay juice on this one but I think it is worth it.

Team to win and player to score – James Washington (+425)

As I mentioned above, I am a big fan of the Steelers this week. I think they win and win comfortably. If you saw the Seahawks game a week ago, you saw their secondary get torched by slot wide receivers. John Ross, who fills a similar role for the Bengals as Washington, had 158 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Week 1.

The Steelers slot wide receivers should feast and with Washington’s big-play ability, the value is absolutely there. Give the Washington to score and the Steelers to win at better than 4/1 bet a shot. I don’t hate a play on Donte Moncrief at +325 either.

Player to score two or more touchdowns – Sony Michel (3/1)

I’m on the Sony Michel hype train this week. We saw how atrocious the Dolphins are in Week 1 and players are already asking to be traded. The Patriots are also favored by an insane 19 points.

While it seems like Antonio Brown may actually play on Sunday, his involvement will be limited at best. I expect to see a ton of rush attempts by New England who will want to just get out of Miami with a win. Michel should run plenty, run effectively, and have multiple opportunities to find the end zone.

Player to throw the most touchdowns – Jacoby Brissett (+125) vs Marcus Mariota

I am a big fan of the value with this one. Jacoby Brissett looked the part in his first start of the season against the Chargers. He is in an offense loaded with skill-position talent.

This week he is on the road again to face the Tennessee Titans who despite looking great in Week 1 have some questions to answer. I think Brissett will produce a couple of touchdowns in this contest which should be enough to best Marcus Mariota.

For me, this play has as much to do with Mariota as it does with Brissett. His skill and decision making is questionable at best. This game should also be close throughout which means plenty of Derrick Henry and Dion Lewis for Tennessee.

Brissett is being a decent underdog against Mariota (-167) doesn’t make a ton of sense. These odds should be pretty close to even, maybe Mariota as a slight favorite since he is at home. Brissett is also +128 to go over 1.5 touchdowns which makes a ton of sense if you think he can win this head to head.

Good luck in Week 2!
