NFL Sunday Night Football Picks & Player Props: Chiefs vs. Falcons

The Kansas City Chiefs will face the Atlanta Falcons in tonight’s Sunday Night Football matchup on NBC. While the Chiefs are 2-0, they’ve dealt with many significant injuries, including losing Isiah Pacheco for potentially the season.

Despite signing Kareem Hunt, he’ll remain inactive on the practice squad. He still has to get up to speed. Kansas City must rely on rookie Carson Steele and veteran Samaje Perine tonight.

On the other hand, the Chiefs are coming off a controversial win after earning another chance on a fourth down penalty on the Bengals that saved the drive. Mahomes threw for just over 160 yards passing and didn’t look like himself.

The Falcons will look to take advantage, especially after last week’s win over the Eagles. Kirk Cousins’ game-winning drive should add some momentum to the Falcons’ preparation for tonight’s game.

Below, I’ll provide my favorite best bet and player prop for tonight’s matchup.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Atlanta Falcons (Game Pick)

The public will likely be all over the Chiefs. But I’m not so sure. After all, the Chiefs have scored 26.5 points per game and allowed 22.50 points per game. In addition, the offense averaged about 320 yards but allowed more than 385 yards of offense per game this year.

Meanwhile, Atlanta has held opponents to just 156 yards per game in the air through the first two games of the season. The Falcons have been burned on the ground, allowing 161.50 yards. However, without Pacheco, the Chiefs probably wouldn’t be a huge threat on the ground right now.

The Falcons’ coverage has been very good. Mahomes is coming into this game after throwing three interceptions in two games. Remember, even though the Chiefs won the Super Bowl last season, the regular season was a roller coaster for Kansas City. They’ll have some hiccups.

A game on the road against the Falcons won’t be easy, especially on Sunday Night Football. I’ll back the Falcons at +3 (-105) in this game.

Pick: Falcons +3 (-105)

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Atlanta Falcons (Player Prop)

It’s clear that Kirk Cousins hasn’t been himself since starting the season with the Falcons. He’s coming off a major injury in which he tore his Achillies and got it surgically repaired.

It hasn’t even been 12 months since the injury. But that final drive against the Eagles proved that he’s still got it and will only improve week-to-week.

Cousins recorded 20 completions on 29 attempts and added 241 yards passing while earning two touchdowns and no interceptions. He was also sacked just one time by a typically fierce Eagles pass rush.

Ultimately, we won’t see Cousins scramble out of the pocket to make plays. He’s dropping back to let loose. Ultimately, the Chiefs are getting good play from Trent McDuffie, but the rest of the secondary is looking average. Let’s take Kirk Cousins to add at least 233 yards passing against the Chiefs tonight.

Pick: Kirk Cousins Over 232.5 Passing Yards (-113)
