NFL Sunday Night Football Picks & Player Props: Chiefs vs. Giants (Week 3)

The New York Giants will play their first home game of the season on Sunday Night Football against the Kansas City Chiefs.

If you look at the records, you’ll think this game is underwhelming for a primetime slot. Neither team has won a game this year, but the Chiefs have only lost by one score in both of their previous games. In addition, the Giants lost in a shootout against the Cowboys on the road last week.

New York proved that its offense is capable of putting up big numbers behind Russell Wilson. The Chiefs’ offense is no longer what it used to be. Does that mean an upset is brewing in East Rutherford?

I’ve got a best bet and player prop for tonight’s Sunday Night Football game. Check out my top NFL Sunday Night Football picks & player props below.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Giants (Game Pick)

Brian Daboll is in the hot seat as the head coach of the New York Giants. It’s been reported that he’s hanging on a thread, despite the Giants’ competitive game against the Cowboys last weekend. With a win over the Chiefs, Daboll can save his job and give fans some hope.

New York’s offense was very impressive last weekend. The Giants committed to throwing the ball more against Dallas, and it worked. Russell Wilson now has 618 passing yards in two games, and Malik Nabers has gained 238 receiving yards through those two games.

The issue is New York’s defense. In two games, the defense has allowed an average of 30.50 points. The pass rush has been solid, but the secondary and run defense haven’t been good enough. The run defense has allowed more than 177 yards per game on the ground. The secondary has also allowed 277.50 yards through the air. No matter how well the Giants play, if the defense continues to operate like this, it’ll be impossible to win games.

That said, the Chiefs have scored only 19 points per game. The offense currently lacks firepower. They lack consistent receivers, the running backs aren’t making big plays and Travis Kelce is starting to age and be less of a factor. Patrick Mahomes has done well scrambling out of the pocket, but he can only do so much. It’ll also be hard to escape this Giants’ pass rush.

It’s why I’ll take the Giants to at least cover. If you’ve got some guts, consider the Giants on the Moneyline at home.

    Pick: Giants +6.5 (-115)

Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Giants (Player Prop)

Malik Nabers has earned 12+ targets in back-to-back games to begin the regular season. He’s also played in at least 94% of snaps in each game and had 14 receptions to begin the season.

Over the last 10 games, dating back to the end of last season, Nabers has averaged about seven receptions per game. He’s also dropped only four catches in his previous 10 games.

In his last 20 games, Nabers has hauled in at least seven receptions in 59% of his games. He’s set to take on a Chiefs’ secondary that hasn’t graded out well, according to Pro Football Focus (PFF). Kansas City’s pass rush grade is even worse. If Russell Wilson has time in the pocket, Nabers will likely get open within three seconds.

Nabers is quickly becoming the face of the Giants. He’ll need to step up for them to win tonight’s game.

Pick: Malik Nabers Over 6.5 Receptions (-108)
