NFL Sunday Night Football Picks & Player Props: Cowboys vs. 49ers (Week 8)
The 3-3 Dallas Cowboys will take on the 3-4 San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.
When NBC booked this game for Week 8, they didn’t expect both teams to be at .500 or worse heading into Week 8. But that’s how it’s gone through the first half of the season.
The 49ers can return to .500, and the Cowboys could get over .500 with a win. I’ll discuss my favorite bets below, including a game pick and a prop pick.

Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers (Game Pick)
The San Francisco 49ers aren’t just 3-4. They’ve also closed Brandon Aiyuk for the year and won’t have leading receiver Jauan Jennings for tonight’s game. Meanwhile, Deebo Samuel is questionable but will likely play after dealing with an illness earlier this week.
Plus, don’t forget Christian McCaffrey, who has barely played this season, is also unavailable for tonight’s game. It’s been that kind of season for the 49ers. Yet, at home, the 49ers are still criminally underrated.
San Francisco has held its opponents to only 205.14 yards in the air and 112.86 yards on the ground. The pass defense has been incredibly good. Ultimately, the run defense won’t have to worry much about Dallas. The Cowboys have rushed for just 77.17 yards per game on the ground this season.
On the other hand, the Cowboys have allowed 143.17 yards on the ground. Like San Francisco, Dallas is weak against the run and has tackled poorly throughout the season. But in addition to the lousy run defense, the secondary and coverage has been very spotty, too.
San Francisco has few weapons due to injuries, but I still trust the Niners at home over Dallas. Dallas is the real fraud.
Pick: 49ers -5 (-110)
Dallas Cowboys vs. San Francisco 49ers (Player Prop)
The Dallas Cowboys rank 23rd in passing touchdowns allowed and have given up 12.2 yards per completion. The Cowboys have also allowed a 64.9% completion percentage and more than 213 passing yards per game.
I don’t think this game will be a complete blowout. This will force Purdy to make plays in the air despite not having Aiyuk or Jennings. Look for Ricky Pearsall to get more involved this week. Ronnie Bell should also be someone targeted more in this game.
In addition, we can’t forget about George Kittle. He’s had some massive games with Purdy throughout his career and would be in line for another big game. His name will be called plenty.
Purdy has hit at least 240 passing yards in 71% of games this season. He’s also added at least 240 passing yards in eight of his last ten games.
After a weak game against Kansas City, look for Purdy to turn things around.
Pick: Brock Purdy Over 239.5 Passing Yards (-115)
