NFL Week 1 Confidence Pool Picks
(1) Chargers | Chiefs vs. Chargers
The Chiefs are set for some regression in 2025.
(2) Bears | Vikings vs. Bears
I’m not ready to count on J.J. McCarthy just yet.
(3) Bills | Ravens vs. Bills
This is simply a toss-up. I’ll take the home team in a close one.
(4) Falcons | Buccaneers vs. Falcons
The Falcons need to control the clock, run the ball aggressively, and utilize the crowd to help propel them past the Bucs.
(5) Colts | Dolphins vs. Colts
Don’t expect either team to be elite this season. That said, Daniel Jones won the starting job for the Colts over Anthony Richardson. Indianapolis is clearly excited about what Jones can do, given that they’re giving up on Richardson this early.
(6) Seahawks | 49ers vs. Seahawks
Brock Purdy’s wide receiver corps is very weak heading into Week 1 of the season. Christian McCaffrey and George Kittle can only do so much.
(7) Patriots | Raiders vs. Patriots
Drake Maye is ready to break out for the Patriots. With Mike Vrabel as coach, the Patriots are headed in the right direction.
(8) Packers | Lions vs. Packers
The Detroit Lions might’ve peaked last season with Ben Johnson and Aaron Glenn as their coordinators. With those two no longer there, I’m skeptical about Detroit.
(9) Rams | Texans vs. Rams
Don’t be surprised if the Texans struggle to get the running game going without Joe Mixon.
(10) Commanders | Giants vs. Commanders
The Commanders are -260 on the moneyline at home. There are other games I’m more confident in, but Washington should be able to take care of business at home against the G-Men.
(11) Jaguars | Panthers vs. Jaguars
It’s early enough in the season that Travis Hunter will make a substantial impact. It’s later in the year when I’d be worried about him.
(12) Eagles | Cowboys vs. Eagles
Jerry Jones isn’t serious. Point blank.
(13) Bengals | Bengals vs. Browns
The Bengals will not allow the same things to happen to them for a second consecutive season.
(14) Steelers | Steelers vs. Jets
The Steelers are familiar with Justin Fields’ tendencies. They’ll be prepared.
(15) Cardinals | Cardinals vs. Saints
The Saints will likely be the worst team in the NFL this year.
(16) Broncos | Titans vs. Broncos
I’m actually high on Cam Ward. I think he’ll have a good season. But he’ll have to go up against the hardest defense in the NFL in Week 1. That won’t work out.
