NFL Top Early Week Picks (Week 12)
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New York Giants
The New York Giants are 0-5 at home this season. They last lost to the Carolina Panthers in Munich in Week 10 and have now lost five consecutive games.
It’s still unclear who will start for New York in this game. It could very well be Daniel Jones. However, Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito are in line waiting and could get the opportunity.
Meanwhile, they’ll take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who have lost four straight games. However, let’s be real for a minute. The Buccaneers have had one of the most challenging four-game stretches in the NFL. Tampa Bay played Baltimore, Atlanta, Kansas City and San Francisco in four straight weeks.
The Buccaneers’ bye week should help them get back on track. For one, Mike Evans could get back onto the field. But also, at 4-6, Tampa Bay still has a very real path to the NFL Playoffs.
I know it’s usually silly to look ahead. However, the Buccaneers play the Giants, Panthers, Raiders, Chargers, Cowboys, Panthers and Saints to close the season. The only game where the Buccaneers are probably underdogs the rest of the season is against the Chargers.
While the Buccaneers dream, the Giants will tank.
Pick: Buccaneers -3.5 (-115)
Denver Broncos vs. Las Vegas Raiders
I grabbed the Broncos at -1.5 last week. I’ll grab them again at -5.5 this week.
Bo Nix is coming off a spectacular performance against the Falcons, completing 28-of-33 passes for 307 passing yards and four touchdowns. The Broncos converted 22 first downs in that game and totaled 400 yards. In addition, the Falcons only added 226 total yards and just 176 yards in the air.
The defense is playing just as well as the offense. The Broncos have allowed just 17.70 points per game this season. Now, compare that to Las Vegas, a team that has allowed nearly 28 points per game. The Raiders are 2-8 and haven’t won a game since September.
The Broncos also knocked off the Raiders 34-18 to start Las Vegas’ losing streak. Las Vegas scored 10 unanswered points to begin the game and then fell 34-18.
Denver has only gotten better, while Las Vegas hasn’t. Las Vegas has allowed at least 27 points in four of its last five games. The offense has also rushed for just 76.89 yards. They’re not balanced at all.
Ultimately, while the Raiders have allowed just 195.11 yards per game in the air, the secondary has looked horrific and the missed tackles continue to pile up.
Look for the Broncos to take advantage of the Raiders’ miscues. Let’s grab the Broncos at -5.5.
Pick: Broncos -5.5 (-110)
