NFL Top Early Week Picks (Week 17)
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Tennessee Titans vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
While this isn’t the most exciting game on the slate, it has some value. The Titans have lost four of their last five games, including a 10-6 home loss to Jacksonville in Week 14. Most recently, Tennessee started Mason Rudolph against the Indianapolis Colts.
Despite the change, the Titans saw the same result. Rudolph made some really good throws, but he also had three interceptions. With Rudolph, you get the best of both worlds. Yet, I still think he gives the Titans the best chance to win football games in the future.
Meanwhile, Mac Jones has performed much better as of late. Despite losses to the Jets and Raiders, Jones has thrown for nearly 550 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in the last two games. His worst game came against the Titans, where he added two interceptions and no touchdowns. But he’s played better since that game despite the losing results.
Although this game finished with only 16 points in Week 14, now that both teams have met once, I expect many more points in the second meeting. Ride the Over 39.5 (-115) here.
Pick: Over 39.5 Points (-110)
Indianapolis Colts vs. New York Giants
The New York Giants are already 0-8 at home. The fans don’t even want to watch a win at this point. They want the tank to earn the No. 1 overall pick.
The Giants haven’t been in this situation since 1965, when they last had the No. 1 overall pick. Although this is new for the Giants, it would be necessary to help them move forward.
Meanwhile, the Colts, at 7-8, can still make the playoffs. The offense is clicking after scoring 38 points against the Titans last week. It really shouldn’t have any issues scoring against the Giants this week. New York has allowed two consecutive weeks of 34+ points.
Additionally, the Giants already have a differential of 8.57 and have allowed more than 143 yards per game on the ground this season.
After all, Indianapolis already totaled 28 points at MetLife Stadium against the Jets in mid-November. They’ll take on an even worse defense when they face the Giants on the same field.
The Colts, behind Anthony Richardson and Jonathan Taylor, will easily surpass this mark against the Giants. It’s time to complete the tank.
Take the Colts to win big.
Pick: Colts -7.5 (+120)
