NFL Week 17 Odds & Picks: Best Lookahead Bets (2025)
I’m looking for some positive expected value bets in Week 17 before Week 16 even begins. Last week, I suggested backing the Chiefs -11.5 against the Titans, and it backfired completely once Patrick Mahomes got hurt and the Chiefs lost. Let’s not have that happen again. New England Patriots vs. New York Jets
The New England Patriots will hit the road to take on the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football this week. The Patriots lost a tight one to the Buffalo Bills, and are now three-point underdogs against the 7-7 Ravens. Despite the Ravens’ 24-0 win over the Bengals last week, Baltimore has looked mediocre for most of the season. The offense has struggled behind Lamar Jackson, and the Ravens’ last few wins have come against below-average opponents.
The Patriots are 11-3. Yes, they failed to knock off the Bills last week. But New England proved it belongs in the same conversation as the top-tier teams in the NFL. The Patriots, like the Ravens, haven’t knocked off a team above .500 in over a month. But they’ll have their opportunity against the Ravens.
When the Patriots defeat the Ravens, the hype will be loud heading into their next game against the Jets.
On the other hand, the Jets are currently 3-11 and will likely have Brady Cook starting the rest of the season. Cook struggled in his debut, despite showing some quality signs throughout the game. Ultimately, New Orleans’ Tyler Shough has helped the Saints win two consecutive games. A third straight win is well in reach. If the Saints take care of the Jets and the Patriots upset the Ravens, finding a -9.5 line on the Patriots will be difficult come game day in Week 17.
Pick: Patriots -9.5 (-110)
Arizona Cardinals vs. Cincinnati Bengals
The Arizona Cardinals already shut down Kyler Murray for the season. They’re rolling with Jacoby Brissett, who has had some good moments. However, the reality is that the Cardinals haven’t won five consecutive games, allowing at least 40 points in three of those five. The defense isn’t playing well, and the offense can’t keep up.
They’ll play the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16, where they’re three-point underdogs at home. As a matter of fact, the Cardinals have just one win at home all season. It’s unlikely they’ll beat the Falcons in Week 16.
Conversely, the Bengals looked absolutely awful against the Ravens last week, losing 24-0. Joe Burrow took a lot of the blame and apparently had a team meeting after the game to discuss the poor performance. Burrow has acknowledged he’ll play the remainder of the season, despite the Bengals no longer being in the playoff hunt. The Bengals view the final portion of the season as a momentum builder for next year.
Ultimately, Cincinnati will be on the road to face the Dolphins this week. The Dolphins were crushed by the Steelers on Monday Night Football and have a quick turnaround against the Bengals in Week 16. If Cincinnati gets back on track and the Cardinals lose another one, that Bengals -5.5 line will look excellent by Week 17’s kickoff.
Pick: Bengals -5.5 (-110)
