Los Angeles Chargers vs. Carolina Panthers
The Los Angeles Chargers will take on the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 1 of the regular season. Ultimately, if the Chargers beat the Raiders, nobody will overreact. But a loss to the Raiders at home would shock bettors.
Meanwhile, expectations are very low for the Panthers. Carolina has a road game against the Saints. A win would be impressive, but a loss wouldn’t change much.
I’ve seen many sharps carrying a Panthers +4 ticket. If Carolina comes through and the Chargers don’t impress against the Raiders, you won’t find the +3.5 in Week 2 at home again.
Bet: Panthers +3.5 (-115)
Los Angeles Rams vs. Arizona Cardinals
In Week 1, the Arizona Cardinals will face the Buffalo Bills at home. It’s doubtful that Arizona will pull off a massive upset on the road in Buffalo.
Meanwhile, the Rams are on the road against the Lions for Sunday Night Football. Los Angeles fell short against the Lions in the playoffs earlier this season but will seek revenge. The Rams have been competitive against the Lions since the Stafford-Goff trade, and this Week 1 matchup figures to give us the same.
If the Rams knock off the Lions and the Cardinals fall to the Bills, you likely won’t see the Rams at -2.5 again in Week 2.
Bet: Rams -2.5 (-110)
Atlanta Falcons vs. Philadelphia Eagles
The Atlanta Falcons have an excellent team on paper. The offense looks revamped with Kirk Cousins under center, and the defense has just added veterans Justin Simmons and Matthew Judon.
Atlanta will play the Pittsburgh Steelers in Game 1. If the Falcons prove the hype is real, they’ll have plenty of bettors in Week 2 against the Philadelphia Eagles.
In addition, the Eagles have a game on Friday in Brazil. For one, the long trip to start the season won’t help. Secondly, what if the Eagles lose to the Packers as favorites in that Week 1 game?
The Packers have a fierce offense that can carve up any secondary. While improving in the draft, Philadephia’s secondary might still not be up to par.
Consider the Falcons at +4 (-112) for Week 2 against the Eagles.
Bet: Falcons +4 (-112)
