Arizona Cardinals vs. Indianapolis Colts
The Arizona Cardinals are on a three-game losing streak after a disappointing 22-21 loss to the Tennessee Titans. The Cardinals had a number of self-inflicted mistakes that allowed the Titans to come back from a 21-6 deficit in the fourth quarter.
Meanwhile, the Colts are now 4-1 and just earned a 40-6 win over the Las Vegas Raiders. The only loss this season was a respectable one-touchdown loss to the Rams on the road. The Colts battled in that game and didn’t even play badly.
Ultimately, Arizona’s offense has scored an average of just 20.50 points per game this season. The Cardinals have thrown the ball for fewer than 165 yards per game and have earned fewer than 106 yards rushing. With James Conner and Trey Benson out, the Cardinals are a bit thin at running back. We’ll see if Emari Demercado even gets a chance next week after his stupid gaffe.
That said, the Colts have limited the run game well this season. The secondary is still allowing 223.75 passing yards per game, but the Cardinals are at least creating takeaways. The Colts have earned a 10-point differential through the first five games of the season.
At home, let’s back the Colts.
Pick: Colts -5.5 (-110)
Seattle Seahawks vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
The Seahawks have played excellent defense this season. However, Seattle just gave up 38 points in a 38-35 loss to a Buccaneers team with some key banged-up players. Before the loss to Tampa Bay, Seattle allowed no more than 20 points in any game. Expect the Seahawks to perform better against the Jaguars.
The Jaguars will go up against Trevor Lawrence, who has actually thrown five touchdowns and four interceptions. That’s simply not elite. As a matter of fact, Jacksonville’s No. 1 pass-catcher is Brenton Strange, a tight end.
On the other side, the Jaguars have allowed only 18 points per game defensively. They’ve got a game against the Chiefs tonight at home, so we’ll see how that goes. But against the San Francisco 49ers, the Jaguars earned a 26-21 road win last week. The Jaguars forced four turnovers. They need to keep the penalties down, but if Jacksonville continues to be aggressive on defense, it’ll be hard to score on. Those turnovers and change of possessions were the difference in the game against the 49ers. They’re currently the most underrated defense in the NFL, led by new defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile.
Therefore, let’s take the under in this matchup.
Pick: Under 44.5 Points (-105)
