Los Angeles Rams vs. Washington Commanders
There’s a world where the Philadelphia Eagles knock off the Washington Commanders on Sunday Night Football this weekend. If that happens, the Commanders could struggle to keep it to just +5.5.
They’ll face a Rams team with a matchup against a winless Los Angeles Chargers squad. The Rams haven’t played their best football and might win by only one score against the Chargers. But the offense finally found its groove last weekend with 35 points.
Ultimately, the Rams are much better on paper and analytically. The Commanders have just one win this season, and they’d be 1-5 if Cam Skattebo hadn’t fumbled away a Giants overtime win (or if Jayden Daniels and the offense had known the clock was about to expire).
I’ll take a Sean McVay-coached team over a Dan Quinn-coached team. This number could balloon to seven, even on the road. Let’s back Rams -5.5.
Pick: Rams -5.5 (-110)
San Francisco 49ers vs. Las Vegas Raiders
I’m not confident the Raiders can beat the Jets on the road in Week 8. The Jets are currently -1.5 in that one, and the Raiders have lost four straight games heading into this Week 8 matchup. Las Vegas has allowed at least 30 points in all four losses and has scored 21 or fewer points in three of them.
Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers get a bye week and a whole week to prepare for a bottom-tier squad like the Raiders. If the Raiders lose to the Jets, the spread could move to double digits.
The spread is at a key number of 9.5 right now. Additionally, the 49ers are 4-0 at home and should have key players returning healthy, like Mike Evans and Nick Bosa. San Francisco is 4-0 in their last four games coming off the bye week, including last year’s 13-point win over the Titans. Let’s back Niners -9.5.
Pick: 49ers -9.5 (-110)
