NHL Picks & Predictions: Tuesday (11/3)
We’re rolling into Tuesday’s NHL slate with momentum from last Tuesday’s NHL Picks & Predictions (10/27) edition, finishing 2-1 for a profitable outing. Tonight, it’s another 11-game board, so there is plenty of opportunity to stay hot on the ice.
Matchups worth monitoring from a pure entertainment context include Mammoth vs. Maple Leafs, Red Wings vs. Lightning, Stars vs. Capitals, Oilers vs. Devils, and Hurricanes vs. Predators. I’ll stray outside of these games a bit just to ensure we stay profitable with 3 of my favorite plays on Tuesday’s NHL betting card.

Dallas Stars vs. Washington Capitals Picks
The Stars and Capitals will face off for the first time this season, with oddsmakers valuing each side equally as a virtual pick’em. The Capitals are -112 betting favorites, while the goal total sits at 5.5.
Expected goaltenders include Jake Oettinger and Logan Thompson. Oettinger has been stout between the pipes, posting a 1.63 GAA with 3 shutouts, while Thompson has been a bit more volatile, allowing 4 goals in 2 of his previous 3 starts for the Capitals.
Dallas is 11-3 for goal total unders in 2026. Washington is 8-2-3 on the goal total over. However, they were just held to 1 goal at home by the Wild during their last contest on Sunday.
The Stars rank bottom-10 in shot percentage (10.3%) and lead the league in shots allowed (312) this season. The Capitals aren’t far behind, sitting inside the top-10 in this metric, allowing 366 shots on goal.
Bet Under 5.5 total goals at even odds between the Stars and Capitals to start Tuesday’s NHL picks.
Pick: Under 5.5 (+100)
Vegas Golden Knights vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Picks
The Golden Knights have been sliding down the standings lately, going 1-4 SU heading into Tuesday’s road game against Pittsburgh. Vegas is 0-1 on its current road trip, losing 3-2 to the red-hot Bruins on Monday.
Now, on the heels of a back-to-back, the Golden Knights face a Penguins team equally desperate to get back into the win column. Pittsburgh has lost 2 straight games by a 1-goal margin, while going to overtime in 2 of their previous 3 matchups.
The home team has won each of its previous 10 games played between Vegas and Pittsburgh. Factor in a 3-day rest advantage for the Penguins, and it feels like backing the slight home underdog is the right play in this spot.
Bet on the Penguins moneyline at -108 odds.
Pick: Penguins Moneyline (-108)
Carolina Hurricanes vs. Nashville Predators Picks
Pyotr Kochetkov is the best goaltender in the NHL right now, which is why Carolina boasts a 12-2-2 record following its Stanley Cup win last season. While Kochetkov didn’t play any crucial minutes last season, he’s proved invaluable to start this new campaign, going 10-0-0 with a ridiculous 1.49 GAA and a pair of shutouts.
Nashville hosts as a large home underdog at +160 odds. The Predators have scored 3+ goals in 4 straight games, so Kochetkov will certainly be tested in the crease.
Ultimately, Carolina’s defense is going to shut down Nashville’s offense. The Hurricanes have allowed 359 total shots (7th best), and the Predators are bottom-10 in xGF (expected goals for) at 27.3.
Kochetkov has allowed 2 or fewer goals in 4 straight starts for Carolina. 6.5 is too high for a goal total with the top netminder in the NHL expected to start. Plus, Nashville goaltender Juuse Saros has allowed 2 or fewer goals in 3 of his previous 5 starts.
Bet Under 6.5 total goals between the Hurricanes and Predators to close out our Tuesday NHL betting card.
Pick: Under 6.5 (-125)
