The NHL is in full swing and we're already seeing who will be the teams to beat. Let’s give out a couple of same-game parlays (SGPs) for tonight’s matchups.

(NHL odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Minnesota Wild at Edmonton Oilers
- Leg 1: Wild Moneyline (+136)
- Leg 2: Leon Draisaitl 3+ Shots on Goal (-135)
- Leg 3: Kirill Kaprizov Anytime Goal Scorer (+106)
The Oilers struggled at the beginning of last season. That almost happened again this season. They started 2-4-1, but have recorded an 8-4-1 record since (10-8-2 overall), so Kris Knoblauch still has his job for now.
The Oilers’ two biggest stars are phenomenal. Leon Draisaitl has 27 points, including the second-most goals (14) goals. Connor McDavid has 24 points in only 14 games. This team got to the Stanley Cup Finals because they had a large group of forwards that could light the lamp. However, some of their other prominent players, like Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Zach Hyman, are averaging under half a point per game.
We'll likely see Stuart Skinner in the net tonight. After an outstanding performance during the playoffs, he hasn’t had a great year. He broke his four-game streak of allowing three or more goals but is an abysmal 73rd in goals saved over expected (-8.9).
The argument last season was, "If the Wild had any offense, they would be a top-tier team." They do and they are. They have the ninth-most goals scored per game (3.39) and are 10th in expected goals percentage (52.3%). The depth of the lineup is helping as they have six players with double-digit points, including Kirill Kaprizov, whose 33 points are second. Matt Boldy has 10 goals.
With that, they still have a stellar goalie tandem. In his last season, Marc-Andre Fleury isn't playing as much as in previous years, but he’s still great with 2.70 goals allowed and a .916 save percentage.
This is Filip Gustavsson’s net, and he's one of the best. He is sixth in goals saved above expected (7.1). The Wild should not be this big of an underdog, and they'll show why with an upset win.

Carolina Hurricanes at New Jersey Devils
- Leg 1: Under 6.5 Goals (-120)
- Leg 2: Jesper Bratt 3+ Shots on Goal (-115)
- Leg 3: Under 1.5 First Period Goals (-105)
This is the game to watch. Each team is playing well to start the season and is close in the Metro standings. A regulation win by the Devils would tie them for first place.
The Hurricanes are leading the Eastern Conference with 28 points, which has much to do with their eight-game winning streak. Now, they have come in and won three straight. They are fantastic in every aspect of the game. Their offense scores 4.0 goals per game (third) and allows 2.67 goals per game (third). Their special teams have also been tremendous, as they are in the top 10 on the power play and the penalty kill.
The Devils are hot at the moment, going 5-2-0 in their last seven games. They had been beating up on some bad teams but solidified themselves by beating the Panthers twice in South Beach. The offense has been great, averaging 4.4 goals in their five wins while allowing 1.8 goals per game.
Each team can counteract their opponent's strength. This game will be close. Just like the last game, it will stay under the projected total.
