Olympics 2024 Soccer Best Bets (Saturday)

Argentina (-270) vs. Iraq (+750), DRAW (+425) | 2.5 (-155/+120)

The action gets started bright and early with a Group B match between Argentina and Iraq. Iraq notched a 2-1 win over Ukraine in their opener, while Argentina dropped a 2-1 contest to Morocco. Kickoff is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. ET from Groupama Stadium in Lyon, France.

Both of these teams went over the total in their opening matches, so I'm going to ride that trend here. Give me the Over 2.5 goals at -155. For the Sky Blue and White, they've now seen eight of their last 11 matches go over the total of 2.5 goals. Across the 11-match span, Argentina is averaging 3.7 combined goals per match.

As for Iraq, I was wary of how they'd hold up when stepping up and playing elevated competition, but they delivered, securing a 2-1 victory over Ukraine. Their last three matches have all eclipsed the 2.5-goal mark. I also think it's worth noting that six of the opening matchday's eight games saw at least three goals. Perhaps these younger players aren't as refined on the defensive side of the ball, which is leading to more offense. Either way, I think both of these defenses are susceptible to conceding goals, so I'll jump on the over.

Bet: Over 2.5 Total Goals (-155)

Ukraine (+290) vs. Morocco (+100), DRAW (+245) | 2.5 (+110/-140)

The other Group B match on the docket pits Ukraine against Morocco. Kickoff is set for 11:00 a.m. ET from Stade Geoffroy-Guichard in Saint-Etienne, France.

Morocco scored the opening two goals in their match against Argentina, adding a goal at the 45+2' mark, and scoring right after the break in the 46th minute. They've now scored twice in each of their last three matches, going 2-1-0 over the stretch. If the Atlas Lions can get the double here, I think they'll cruise against Ukraine. The Ukrainians have given up multiple goals in two consecutive games, and three of their last four matches. Look for this Moroccan offense to stay hot enough to win on Saturday morning.

Bet: Morocco Moneyline (+100)

France (-390) vs. Guinea (+1000), DRAW (+500) | 2.5 (-150/+120)

The hosts cruised to a 3-0 victory against the United States on Wednesday, while Guinea was on the losing end of a 1-2 contest with New Zealand. This is the soccer nightcap on Saturday, and kickoff is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. ET from Allianz Riviera in Nice, France.

I'm not overthinking this one, I'm laying the 1.5 goals with the host country of France. The European nation dominated the USA in their opener, getting three goals from three different players. One of the goalscorers was the overage Alexandre Lacazette, who plays his club ball with Lyon. The 33-year-old is primed to have a big tournament against younger competition, and I think his scoring streak continues here.

If we're looking at the transitive property, Guinea lost 3-0 in a friendly with the USA back on March 22nd of this year. So, if the French made quick work of the USA, then they should have a dynamic performance against Guinea. In their opening game, Guinea conceded twice to a mediocre New Zealand team, and I don't see the defensive woes turning around against the tournament favorites. Give me France -1.5.

Bet: France -1.5 (-140)
