Premier League Matchday 19 Preview & Best Bets (2024)

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Tottenham (-150) vs. Wolves (+340), DRAW (+360) | 3.5 (-115/-110

One of Sunday's six Premier League matches features an intriguing battle between Tottenham and Wolverhampton. The hosts have slid to 12th place in the table and sit at 7-2-9 (23 points), while the Wanderers have rattled off two straight wins, climbing to 17th at 4-3-11 (15 points). Kickoff is slated for 10:00 a.m. ET from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

If you're new here, let me point out how extremely rare it is for Wolverhampton to have secured wins in two straight outings. You have to go back to February of the last campaign to find the last time that they accomplished this feat. Wolves appear to have found some offense, as they've out-scored Leicester (3-0) and Manchester United (2-0) a combined 5-0 during the streak. Being that this is the case, I'm going to play the over in this spot. They'll be looking to score on a Tottenham team that's 16th in xGA (30.4) this year.

The best part about this bet is that even if Wolverhampton reverts back to its normal ways of not scoring, there's a chance we can still sneak over this total. Tottenham has been fantastic offensively this season, ranking second in goals scored (39) and fifth in xG (32.7). They're tasked with scoring on Wolverhampton's 20th-ranked defense, a unit that's conceded 40 goals over 18 matches (2.22 GA/G) this year. Let's take the over in London on Sunday morning.

Bet: Over 3.5 Goals (-115)

Ipswich Town (+600) vs. Chelsea (-250), DRAW (+425) | 3.5 (+110/-135

It hasn't been a great season in the top flight for Ipswich Town, as they're currently below the relegation line in 19th place at 2-6-10 (12 points). They'll try to turn things around when they host Chelsea, who owns a coveted top-four spot, sitting in third place at 10-5-3 (35 points). This contest gets underway on Monday at 2:45 p.m. ET from Portman Road in Ipswich.

I'll go ahead and lay the 1.5 goals with the Blues on the road in this game. The hosts have battled hard this season, but they're winless in 16 of their 18 contests (2-6-10). Five of their 10 defeats have been by 2+ goals, and they've been out-scored 5-0 during their current 0-0-2 run.

I believe that Chelsea has the offensive firepower to stretch out a multi-goal lead against the Tractor Boys on Monday. The Blues have been fierce offensively this year, ranking third in goals scored (38) and second in xG (36.5). Those equate to 2.1 and 2.0 goals per game, respectively. Chelsea has scored 2+ goals in eight of its last 10 matches across all competitions, and this is a trend that I expect to continue here. Let's lock in Chelsea -1.5.

Bet: Chelsea -1.5 (-105)

Manchester United (+165) vs. Newcastle (+155), DRAW (+260) | 2.5 (-165/+130

Monday's three-game slate wraps up with a match between Manchester United and Newcastle. The Red Devils are in free fall right now, as they've slid to 14th in the table at 6-4-8 (22 points). They'll try to snap their two-game slide against the visiting Magpies, who are in fifth place at 8-5-5 (29 points). Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m. ET from Old Trafford in Manchester.

Manchester United hasn't scored a goal in their last two matches, as they were blanked by both Bournemouth (3-0) and Wolverhampton (2-0). They've struggled to find offense all season, ranking 16th in goals scored (21) and 11th in xG (25.8). I'll lock in Ruben Amorim's men to stay under 1.5 goals in this match on Monday.

Meanwhile, Newcastle's defense has looked sharp this year. They're fourth in goals conceded (21) and fifth in xGA (30.3). Over 18 matches played, those equate to 1.2 and 1.7 goals against per match. The Magpies have logged two consecutive clean sheets, and they've allowed one or fewer goals in each of their four matches. I don't expect Manchester United's offensive woes to be fixed in this spot, so I'll play them to land under 1.5 goals scored.

Bet: Manchester United Team Total Under 1.5 (-140)
