Two of the highest-seeded teams left from the Madness that was will square off Friday night in Chicago, as the #4 seed Providence Friars will take on the #1 seed Kansas Jayhawks. With the winner of this game almost certainly the favorite in the Midwest bracket’s final against either Iowa State or Miami, Friday will mark the biggest challenge for both teams’ Final Four hopes.

As the selections on selection Sunday came together, the Friars quickly became a popular favorite to fade in favor of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. Saw by some as the “luckiest†team in Division I through the regular season, the Friars got past the Jack Rabbits and then hit everything against Richmond, blowing out the Spiders to get to the Sweet 16.
This team is filled with seniors and juniors and plays defense with the best teams in the tournament. If they can continue to get to the free-throw line and pick up boards, they can compete with any team remaining.
Kansas Jayhawks Betting Preview
Consistently amongst the favorites to win this tournament, this year was no different and so far so good for the Jayhawks. Winners of the Big 12 Championship, the Jayhawks have knocked off Texas, Baylor, and TCU (3x) since February and come into this round amongst the most tested of the teams remaining.
One of the best close-out teams from deep, Kansas plays a smothering brand of basketball to go along with its side and excellent guard play. Senior Arizona State transfer Remy Martin has made a big difference for this team as he is the floor general who everything must run through.
Providence Friars vs. Kansas Jayhawks Betting Pick and Prediction
You never know what Providence team is going to show up on a night-to-night basis, and if it’s anything less than a stellar one, this one could be over quickly. Currently hitting 48% from the field, the Jayhawks have proven to be one of the more consistent shooting teams down the stretch of the season, and their ability to get to the free-throw line is second to none.
While I expect this one to remain close early, look for Kansas to pull away late and for Martin to lead this team to another Elite 8.
