NFL Week 16 Odds, Picks & Predictions: Raiders vs. Steelers

The Raiders will enter into quite a hostile environment on Christmas Eve. The current weather forecasts anticipate single-digit temperatures, and severe wind in Pittsburgh this Saturday night. There is a natural inclination to fade Las Vegas in such foreign circumstances, and the weather should only heighten the Steelers’ Home Field Advantage.

The value in this number has all but dissipated, as early bets have moved this spread off of PIT -1 at open– but we would still lean Pittsburgh here. The Steelers have been stout of late (9th on Defense, 12th on Offense per DVOA), and such improved play has not yet been fully weighted into the spread.

Further, it would be wise to bet on the under here. The cold will influence lower scoring, and Vegas QB Derek Carr has a poor history in cold weather (6-0 to the Under, and winless when kickoff temperatures are below 37 degrees).
