Monday's Top MLB Picks: Reds vs. Pirates

(MLB odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)

    Cincinnati Reds (-120) at Pittsburgh Pirates (+102) | O/U 8.0 (-110/-110

Oftentimes in sports betting, some lines surface that don’t make a lot of sense, but it is usually profitable in the long run to be on the contrarian side of such plays. Given how inept the Pittsburgh Pirates’ offense has been of late, they should be much bigger underdogs, which has me intrigued that they are the correct side of this divisional matchup.

After being shut out 1-0 by the Phillies yesterday, Pittsburgh has now tied the 2022 Miami Marlins with the longest streak of scoring four or fewer runs since the start of the 1980 season. The Pirates will look to get right behind righty Mitch Keller, losing six straight times Keller toed the rubber. But Keller is the least of the team’s problems with four quality starts in that span.

Considering Pittsburgh won a series against the Atlanta Braves the last time it played at home preceding its six-game road trip, the Pirates are a great contrarian value play tonight.

    Pick: Pirates Moneyline (+102)
