MLB Best Bets

Pablo Lopez to record a win vs. Nationals

Minnesota is the biggest favorite of any team on today’s slate and should soon endure positive regression from a +1 run differential through seven home games thus far.

The Twins are 2-2 in Pablo Lopez’s starts despite scoring eight total runs in that span. That is a testament to Lopez’s stuff, as he has allowed two or fewer earned runs in every start this year and has completed at least six innings in seven of eight starts dating back to last year.

Offense should not be an issue for Minnesota when facing Chad Kuhl, who ranks in the eighth percentile or worse in average exit velocity, xSLG, barrels, and strikeout percentage.

Lopez leads all Twins starting pitchers with an 11.4 K/9 rate, 93.5 pitches per start and is second in WAR behind Sonny Gray. Minnesota went 7-3 in his final ten starts last season against non-playoff teams, which makes these odds justified for him to earn the victory today.

Bet: Lopez to record a win (-130 at DraftKings)

LeBron James OVER 28.5 Points (-115)

The Lakers took away home court from the Grizzlies by grabbing a win in Memphis. The big question for the Grizz is the status of Ja Morant, and although they were able to get the Game 2 win without him, it will be tough to win this series if he’s not on the court.

This prop is an interesting one to take because it’s more about gauging a personal aspect of this matchup. After the Game 2 win, Memphis’ Dillion Brooks commented about LeBron James, which included calling him “old.”

Brooks poked the bear, and calling out the all-time scoring leader was not a good idea.

NHL Playoffs Best Bets

New Jersey Devils (+115) at New York Rangers (-138) | O/U 5.5 (-128/+104)

The Rangers have been the most dominant team in their series, outscoring the Devils 10-2 in their two wins. They’ve been better on defense at even strength and special teams with 4.89 expected goals against, but New Jersey, who finished with the fourth-best penalty kill, has not had an answer.

The Devils’ offense has depth, and they were fourth in goals per game, with nine players having 30 or more points this season. Currently, they have only four players with a point in this series and none with multiple points.

The  New Jersey offense looks lost, and they’re going up against one of the better defenses and goaltenders in the league. When you get a team failing at its best attributes, it’s tough to correct it.

Pick: Rangers 60 Min. Moneyline (+110)
