Top 2025 NCAA Women’s College Basketball Odds & Picks

Women’s college basketball rose immensely in popularity this season thanks to America being captivated by the final season of Caitlin Clark’s record-breaking career, and South Carolina punctuating an undefeated season en route to Dawn Staley’s third national championship as head coach.

The national championship game between Iowa and South Carolina drew 24 million viewers, making it the most watched basketball game since 2019. It will be difficult to keep the popularity of the women’s game now that Clark and many of the sport’s biggest stars are in the WNBA, but there will certainly not be a dearth of talent around the country entering last season.

The Gamecocks are the prohibitive favorites to cut down the nets again, and rightfully so, as their only loss in the last two seasons was in the Final Four two seasons ago to Iowa. However, we cannot justify making a season-long investment on South Carolina at short +180 odds, so who are we backing to win the title next season?

Best Bet to Win the 2025 Women’s College Basketball Championship

UConn (+450)

Since Dawn Staley’s takeover with South Carolina as the seemingly annual powerhouse in women’s college basketball, it has overshadowed the dominance of two programs, UConn and Tennessee, that were the pinnacle of the sport for nearly three decades. While Pat Summit is no longer with us, the architect of the Huskies dominant program is still on the sideline, and Geno Auriemma is hungry for his 12th national championship.

While UConn has not won a national championship since 2016, it still made the Final Four in 14 consecutive seasons from 2008 to 2022, and this year’s Final Four run is the reason for the optimism for the team next year. UConn lost by two to eventual runner-up Iowa in this year’s Final Four, with the game marred by a questionable offensive foul call on the Huskies late. Auriemma developed a masterful game plan to “hold” Clark to 21 points on 7-of-18 shooting. And while the biggest reason for that, Nika Muhl, and her harassing on-ball defense are off to the WNBA, UConn received huge news when former No. 1 overall recruit Paige Bueckers (Caitlin Clark was ranked No. 4 in the same recruiting class) decided to return to school.

Bueckers has averaged 20 points per game or better in two of the three healthy seasons of her college career. She seemingly carried the team on her back to the Final Four run this year, considering the Huskies ended the season with seven scholarship players. Many believe this year’s Final Four run was Auriemma’s best coaching job after losing five key rotation pieces to season-ending injuries this season. And while Dawn Staley will likely reload South Carolina’s roster after losing Kamilla Cardoso, her inside presence on both ends of the court cannot be understated. UConn will have the best player in the country next year in Bueckers, and we expect her to lead the Huskies to a national title in her final season.
