Friday’s Best MLB Player Prop Bets
(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)
Kerry Carpenter Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)
Kerry Carpenter has smashed a .214 ISO and wOBA of .388 with only 16.9% of strikeouts against right-handed pitching this season. The left-handed slugger has also lifted 32.6% of fly balls and 52.2% of hard contact, along with a 13% barrel percentage.
Meanwhile, he’ll take on Brandon Young of the Orioles. Young has already faced 11 lefties and has allowed a .500 ISO and wOBA of .656. He’s struck out only 9.1% of those 11 batters and has allowed 42.9% of hard contact with 28.6% of line drives.
Carpenter is typically aggressive at the plate and has walked just 1.7% of the time against righties. Young will likely fall behind the count against Carpenter, but I wouldn’t even be surprised if Carpenter got the green light on a 3-0 pitch.
Let’s back Carpenter to add at least two total bases tonight.
Wilyer Abreu Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)
Ben Lively will get the call for the Guardians tonight. The right-hander has allowed a .209 ISO and wOBA of .393 to his first 49 lefties faced this season. There’s not a single area where he’s done well against left-handed hitters this season. He’s allowed more line drives and fly balls than ground balls induced. He’s also struck out just 16.2% of batters and has allowed 51.4% of hard contact.
Meanwhile, he’s set to face Wilyer Abreu of the Red Sox, who has hit a .250 ISO and wOBA of .410 against righties this season. Abreu has also added 35.3% of fly balls and 31.4% of line drives, while limiting ground balls to 23.5% against right-handed pitching this year.
This looks like the perfect matchup for Abreu. Let’s take advantage.
Andrew Abbott Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-122)
It’s been a strong start for Andrew Abbott this year. The left-handed Reds pitcher has struck out 40% of his first 40 batters faced this year. He’s also limited those 40 batters to a .201 wOBA, which is terrific.
That said, he’ll duel a Rockies lineup that has struck out 33.6% of the time against left-handed pitching this season. This projected lineup has six batters who have struck out at least 33.3% of the time against lefties.
Additionally, the Rockies’ lineup has hit a .095 ISO and wOBA of .276 against lefties this year. So, with six massive targets and a very good start to the season, Abbott is in an excellent position to add at least six strikeouts… even in Coors Field.
