Friday’s Best MLB Player Prop Bets

    (Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Pete Alonso Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105)

Pete Alonso has resurged this season, hitting a .256 ISO and wOBA of .430 against his last 97 right-handed pitchers. He’s also added 67.8% of hard contact and a 13.6% barrel percentage, while adding a .364 batting average on balls in play (BABIP) in that time.

Meanwhile, he’ll take on Jameson Taillon of the Cubs. The veteran right-hander has allowed a .333 ISO and wOBA of .391 to his first 72 righties this season. Taillon has also given up 30.4% of line drives and 30.4% of fly balls to righties this season. In addition, he’s struck out just 18.1% of right-handed batters and induced only 23.2% of ground balls over the last month against righties.

Alonso has been on a tear all season long. He’s got a great matchup to continue his dominance.

Hunter Dobbins Under 3.5 Strikeouts (-138)

The Red Sox will give the ball to Hunter Dobbins tonight. The right-hander has only struck out 17.6% of batters this season. He’s also allowed a .176 ISO and wOBA of .337 to his first 74 batters. In addition, he’s thrown 88 pitches per start.

That said, he’ll battle a Royals lineup that barely strikes out against righties. The Royals’ projected lineup has struck out only 16.5% of the time against righties over the last month. Ultimately, Drew Waters is the only player in that lineup who has struck out more than 19.5% of the time against righties.

Ultimately, Dobbins won’t have many opportunities to add strikeouts to the box score tonight. He’s struggled to get strikeouts against both sides this season.  Let’s take his under.

Hunter Brown Over 7.5 Strikeouts (+116)

The Astros will send out Hunter Brown for tonight’s game against the Cincinnati Reds. Brown is a Cy Young candidate heading into this game. He’s struck out 31% of batters and has limited teams to 6.3% of walks, while earning a .074 ISO and wOBA of .228.

    Brown has been remarkable.

The Reds’ offense against righties has not been.

The Reds have hit a .067 ISO and wOBA of .237 with 35.7% of strikeouts against right-handed pitchers over the last 30 days. Only TJ Friedl and Gavin Lux have hit a high ISO and wOBA against righties during this time. Meanwhile, five batters in the Reds’ lineup have struck out at least 28% of the time against righties. Brown should be able to stack up strikeouts like it’s nothing tonight.

After all, Brown has thrown nearly 97 pitches per start and has earned 12.1% of swinging strikes while allowing just a 6.1% barrel rate.
