What happened to the offenses around Major League Baseball yesterday? During the afternoon slate of games, four of the first six games had five or fewer runs scored, and only one had more than seven. Do we expect any carryover into Tuesday’s jam-packed slate?

Tuesday's Best MLB Player Props & Bets

    (Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Jose Ramirez Under 0.5 Hits (+165

With a 2-for-4 performance in Monday’s series opener against the Dodgers, Jose Ramirez now has a 19-game hitting streak, which is now the longest streak of his career after he had an 18-game hitting streak in 2016. With history against him to continue this streak much longer, and with Ramirez in his worst hitting split facing right-hander Dustin May, I am backing Ramirez to go hitless tonight.

Ramirez has a .429/.469/.690 slash line against left-handed pitchers, but slashes just .280/.337/.480 against righties. Meanwhile, May has allowed five or fewer hits in six of his nine starts this season, and three of his last four starts have come against two of the National League’s best lineups (Arizona and Atlanta).

Oftentimes, bettors can find a player’s total for number of hits at 1.5 on someone as hot as Ramirez, so the fact that the over is only juiced to -225 (carrying a 69.23% implied probability) suggests there is some sneaky good value on the Under.

Seiya Suzuki Over 1.5 Total Bases (+125

Seiya Suzuki has been arguably the most under-appreciated player in the Cubs lineup, one that leads the Majors in runs per game.

In 2024, when Suzuki was ahead of the count, he batted .400 with an .864 slugging rate and a 1.389 OPS. This season in that split, he has a .521 average, is slugging 1.021 and has a 1.595 OPS.

Suzuki is fresh after being the designated hitter yesterday. After doubling in his first at-bat, he now has an extra-base hit in four consecutive games, and two games with multiple extra-base hits in that span. Against Colorado’s woeful pitching staff, I expect Suzuki to stay hot.

Spencer Strider to Record a Win (+210

The Phillies were cooled off after a nine-game winning streak in Sunday’s series finale against the Athletics. Now I’m opting for the chance at a big payout with this player prop, given Spencer Strider’s career success against the Phillies.

Strider has held current Phillies to a .169/.230/.288 slash line in 42.2% strikeout rate in 154 combined at-bats. Not only has Strider had success against Phillies hitters, but he has especially silenced the team’s biggest bats. Bryce Harper, J.T. Realmuto, Nick Castellanos and Trea Turner are all batting .188 or worse against the righty, and only one has an OPS better than .435 in this matchup.

Strider is 8-0 with a 2.06 ERA in nine career regular-season starts against the Phillies. Although he did not pitch the required five innings to earn a win in his first start back from injury in his last start, this play is worth a flier given his dominance against a bitter division rival.
