Top 4 MLB MVP Winner Odds & Picks (2022)

We’re through with the first half of the MLB season. It’s been an incredible year, with tons of exciting action. Many players have performed above expectations, and it’s time to award those athletes.

Here are the potential MVP candidates in the American and National Leagues as we approach the second half of the season.

American League MVP Race Candidates

1. Shohei Ohtani -115

Shohei Ohtani surprised many baseball fans last season and earned the first MVP award of his career in the MLB. In that season, he finished with a 9-2 record along with a 3.18 ERA pitching.

And he also hit 46 home runs with 100 RBIs while hitting a .965 OPS.

He only has 19 home runs this season and is hitting a .835 OPS. However, he has a 2.38 ERA pitching through 15 games.

This year, he’s been more dominant on the mound. But the question remains if Ohtani can win this award with the Angels struggling so much as a team.

2. Aaron Judge +150

Aaron Judge is currently on the best team in baseball. The Yankees are rolling and going into the all-star break and have the best record in the league. Judge is a large part of the Yankees’ success. He practically bet on himself this season, which is paying extreme dividends.

Judge has hit a league-leading 33 home runs and has an OPS of .983. He doesn’t pitch, which is why he’s valued a little bit less than Ohtani, but if voters prioritize winning, Judge could end up winning the American League MVP.

Ohtani has been a lot of fun, and he’s clearly the most talented player in baseball. But to me, Judge is the MVP. You need to help your team win games.

National League MVP Race Candidates

1. Paul Goldschmidt +100

If things continue how they’ve been, Paul Goldschmidt will likely win this award in the National League. Goldschmidt is batting .330 with 20 home runs and 70 RBI. He also has an OPS of 1.004.

It’s been quite the season for Goldschmidt, who finished last year with a .294 batting average and 31 home runs. Goldschmidt is usually underappreciated, but his ridiculous batting average and RBI total will potentially get him his first MVP award in the MLB.

He’s also a two-time Runner-Up MVP, and this year, he’s on pace to actually win it.

2. Manny Machado +550

If Goldschmidt struggles down the stretch, Manny Machado could end up stealing the award. Machado is batting .303 on the season and has 15 home runs with 51 RBIs. Clearly, those numbers don’t compare to Goldschmidt, but the Padres have also had a worse lineup throughout the season.

If Machado gets to hit with Fernando Tatis Jr. in the lineup, Machado could excel and play at an even higher level. That would boost Machado’s chances of winning the MVP in the National League.

I still think it’ll be hard for Machado to surpass Goldschmidt as long as Goldschmidt stays consistent.
