Top College Basketball Picks for Friday, February 25 (2022)

It was another profitable day yesterday after going 2-1. As a reminder, make sure, even when the NCAA Tournament rolls around, you’re betting the same amount of money daily. Just because a game is on national television or has more importance doesn’t mean you have to bet more! Here are my favorite three picks for today’s small slate in college basketball.

Saint Louis vs. Richmond: Richmond -154

(7:00 p.m. ET)

On smaller slates, I’d rather play it safe than sorry. Tonight’s A-1o matchup is likely going to be the best game on the slate, but I do think Richmond ends up pulling away at home.

The Spiders rarely turn the ball over and should be able to get more foul shots than normal against a Saint Louis team that loves to foul and send teams to the line. The Spiders will have to do a bit better on the defensive glass, but it’s also good to know that Saint Louis doesn’t shoot many threes on a game-to-game basis. For Richmond, that’s the one area where it’s struggled this year.

Therefore, I like Richmond to close this game out. It’s a bit juiced, but I’m playing it safe.

Northwestern vs. Penn State: Penn State -120

(7:00 p.m. ET)

Whenever I see a home team as a slight favorite, it always catches my attention. It hasn’t been the best season for Penn State, but with the potential for back-to-back wins over Northwestern and Nebraska, Penn State could get back to .500 basketball.

The Nittany Lions won’t force many turnovers, but Penn State has held opponents to a 47.7 percent effective field goal percentage on the season while also limiting offensive rebounds to 24.4 percent. On offense, the Nittany Lions are taking plenty of threes and hitting them at 34.5 percent. Meanwhile, Northwestern has struggled against the three, allowing opponents to hit 35.7 percent from deep.

Give me the home team.

Coastal Carolina vs Little Rock: Coastal Carolina -6.5 (-118)

(7:30 p.m. ET)

In the final regular-season game of the SunBelt, Coastal Carolina will take on one of the league’s worst in Little Rock. Little Rock allows teams to shoot an effective field goal percentage of 56.9 percent. That includes 38.3 percent from deep and 56.6 percent from inside the arc.

On top of that, Little Rock has struggled to earn defensive rebounds at a consistent rate, and Coastal Carolina has grabbed 33.9 percent of offensive rebounds. Meanwhile, the Coastal Carolina defense has held opponents to a 45.8 percent effective field goal percentage and rarely foul opponents to the line.

Even on the road, this line seems small.
