Top College Basketball Picks for Monday, January 24 (2022)

Monday slates aren’t always the best when it comes to really good games, but there are some games with some real value, and that’s all that matters to bettors. Here’s a look at my favorite three bets for tonight’s slate in college basketball for January 24, 2022.

Jacksonville vs. Kennesaw State:  Over 126.5 (-110)

(5:00 PM ET tip)

Jacksonville is not the best offense in the nation. I get that. But the Dolphins can still shoot from a high percentage from three and dominate the offensive glass. Jacksonville is shooting 34.5 percent from three and crashing the glass well, earning 31.5 percent offensive rebounds.

Against Kennesaw State, that’s going to be huge. Kennesaw State’s defense is horrible. Opponents are shooting a 53.1 percent effective field goal percentage while shooting 34.6 percent from three and 54.2 percent from inside the arc. I think Jacksonville has some success offensively in this game.

On the other hand, Kennesaw State has hit 35.1 percent of threes and just does everything at an average pace. An average pace will get you a solid average, as they’ve scored 77.1 points per game this season. So I like the over here.

Bet: Over 126.5 (-110)

Winthrop vs. High Point: Over 136 (-110)

(6:00 PM ET tip)

The Winthrop Eagles are one of the best shooting teams in the nation. Winthrop has a 55.5 percent effective field goal percentage while shooting 37.1 percent from three and 55.4 percent from inside the arc on the season. While Winthrop has struggled to earn offensive rebounds against High Point, Winthrop figures to add more offensive rebounds to the box score and increase second chances.

Meanwhile, High Point has been in most games this season. They’ve lost four games by overtime and two more games by one point this season. High Point could easily be a top team in the Big South but can’t close out games very well. Still, this bodes well for the over, knowing the last final minutes of this game could turn into a fouling frenzy. So let’s grab the over here.

Bet: Over 136 (-110)

Louisville vs. Virginia: Louisville +5.5 (-110)

(7:00 PM ET tip)

The Louisville Cardinals and Virginia Cavaliers haven’t had the best of seasons. Both are 11-8 on the year and 5-4 in conference play. But the year is far from over, and whoever wins this game will jump up in the ACC standings a little bit.

Both teams are very similar this year. Each team has a defense rated in the top 100 via KenPom, but Virginia’s offense is rated just a bit higher than Louisville. That’s why Virginia is a favorite in tonight’s game at home. But while Louisville hasn’t been as efficient, the Cardinals are capable of shooting the three-point shot very well. They shoot it plenty of times in a game and are confident when shooting the ball.

Virginia is allowing teams to hit 35.6 percent of threes on the season, so there’s reason to believe Louisville can pull off the upset or at least cover in this game. Especially knowing that Louisville has really limited opponents on the defensive glass this season.

Bet: Louisville +5.5 (-110)
