Top College Basketball Picks for Monday, March 7 (2022)

You won’t be finding any more regular-season college basketball games on the television anymore. Every conference is strictly playing in conference tournaments, and we’ve already crowned a couple of champions over the weekend. Tonight, we’ll crown some more champions, and I might even have a play or two for those special championship games.

Here are our favorite picks for Monday, March 7 in college basketball.

Wright State vs. Cleveland State: Wright State +100

(7:00 p.m. ET)

The Wright State Raiders lost two regular-season games to the Cleveland State Vikings. But to finish off the season, Cleveland State lost four of its last seven games and ended up with a conference record of 15-6. The Vikings have one of the best offenses in the Horizon League. However, the turnovers can still get high, and if the jitters get to the Vikings early, it could be a long night for Cleveland State.

Meanwhile, Wright State is a more well-balanced offense, shooting an effective field goal percentage of 51.9 percent while turning the ball over just 17.6 percent of the time. The Raiders also earn 30.9 percent offensive rebounds and could end up getting to the foul line more often, where they shoot 76 percent. On the other hand, Cleveland State is hitting just 67.7 percent of foul shots.

I like Wright State to finally pull off an upset against Cleveland State tonight in the Horizon League semis.

Louisiana vs. Georgia State: Louisiana +3 (-110)

(7:00 p.m. ET)

The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns have won three games in four days and will look to complete the SunBelt Tournament sweep with a fourth and final win against Georgia State. Louisiana turns the ball over 22.1 percent of the time, and Georgia State earns 22.9 percent turnovers.

However, if Louisiana can be smarter with the basketball and limits turnovers, things will go in its favor. Louisiana is earning 33.5 percent offensive rebounds and getting to the line more than Georgia State.

Georgia State has been on an incredible run defensively, but perimeter defense hasn’t been good this season. Louisiana picks and chooses wisely from downtown, and because of that, the Ragin’ Cajuns are shooting 34.3 percent from three. Meanwhile, Georgia State’s offense is just not consistent enough, shooting a 44.8 percent effective field goal percentage. I like Louisiana to pull off the upset in the Sun Belt final.

Furman vs. Chattanooga: Chattanooga -110

(7:00 p.m. ET)

The Chattanooga Mocs have looked spectacular in postseason play. The Mocs finished The Citadel in the second half and dominated Wofford for 40 minutes last night. Now the Mocs will take on a Furman team that they’ve already defeated twice this season.

Furman is an elite offense, like Chattanooga, but Furman won’t get to the line at a high rate and continues to struggle to defend. Teams are shooting an effective field goal percentage of 51.7 percent against Furman this season, and Chattanooga should have some real success inside the arc.

Don’t get me wrong, Furman should too, but Furman would rather shoot threes. Against a Chattanooga defense that just held Wofford from three and has held opponents to 30.7 percent on the season, I’ll take my chances with Chattanooga.

Bet: Chattanooga -110 at WynnBet
