Top College Basketball Picks for Sunday, December 5th (2021)

As the NFL games go on around it, the NCAAB slate for Sunday is just as robust as last weekend and there is plenty of value to be had. In what will be the third full week of the season, many teams are starting to form identities, and tendencies starting to emerge.

Let’s take a closer look at the slate and see where the value remains.

Arizona vs Oregon State: Arizona -11.5 (-110)

(4:00 PM ET tip)

Conference play will start for the visiting Wildcats in this one as they missed their first try Thursday due to Washington dealing with COVID-19 protocols. For 6-0 Arizona, things appear to be turning back around in Tuscon as the team is off to their best start since 2018 and best of coach Tommy Lloyd’s new era.

For the home Beavers, last year’s Elite Eight run has been followed up by a 1-7 start, as well as dropping their first PAC-12 game Thursday to Cal. In this one, look for the Wildcats to want to make a statement to the rest of the PAC-12 and run away with this one early.

Kansas State vs Wichita State: Wichita State -4 (-110)

(6:00 PM ET tip)

The Kansas State Wildcats will hit the road for their first real test of the season as they take on the Wichita State Shockers in a game that will surely have recruiting implications. For the Wildcats, a stagnant offense has plagued them in their two losses, and they come into this one averaging just 71.5 points per game.

For the home Shockers, points have also come at a premium despite the 6-1 start. As of Sunday, they rank near the bottom of all Division I programs averaging just 66 points and 40% shooting per game. Coming into this one having covered four of their last five, I like for the Shockers to do enough on the defensive side of the ball to win this one by double digits.

Arizona State vs. Oregon: Oregon -10 (-110)

(7:00 PM ET tip)

For those who thought Arizona State football had a worse than expected season; the basketball team is saying “hold my beer.” Averaging just 63.9 points per game through their 2-6 star, the Bobby Hurley era in Tempe could be just about over.

For the home Ducks, Eugene will be a welcome state after a rocky stint in the Las Vegas Invitational 10 games ago, seeing them go 1-3 with losses to Houston, BYU, and Saint Mary’s. I like for the Ducks to get theirs in this one and cover this one with ease.
