Top College Basketball Picks for Sunday, February 20th (2022)

March is just a few weeks away as conference tournaments are just around the corner, scheduled to get started in the first week of the month. As always this time of year, teams are jockeying for position within each conference.

Let’s take a look at two games later today I have my eye on.

Marquette vs. Creighton: Marquette +1.5 (-110)

(3:00 p.m. ET tip)

Coming into this game on a four-game win streak (3-1 ATS), Creighton is starting to heat up exactly when they want to, but the opponent today is more than formidable. Today they welcome to town a #23 ranked Marquette, who is looking to start another win streak of their own after a 77-66 win over Georgetown on Wednesday.

Today will mark a rematch from a January 1st matchup, an overtime win for Creighton after allowing Marquette to come back late to tie it up. Separated by just a half-game in the Big East standings, I like for Marquette to get their revenge, and improve on their 7-1 ATS run as underdogs.

Washington State vs. Southern California: Southern California -6

(7:30 p.m. ET tip)

Washington State comes into this game very much on the bubble for the NCAA tournament, in desperate need of big wins sooner rather than later. Much of the success they have had this season, coming into tonight with a 14-11 record, has come because of the defensive end as they’re allowing just 63 points per game; good enough for #33 in the country. The offense has been a major issue, however, as on their current four-game losing streak, they’re averaging just 57.5 points per game.

As for the home Trojans, who come into today the #17 team in the country, a three-game win streak continues to propel them up the PAC-12 rankings as they are now just 3 games behind the top-ranked Arizona Wildcats.  They’re also getting buckets from everywhere these days, as leading scorer Isaiah Mobley has missed two games, Chevez Goodwin and Drew Peterson have been carrying the load.

With Mobley expected back for this one, I like for the Trojans to pick up a big win at home in a line that’s already moved in their direction since opening at -5.5.
