Top College Basketball Picks for Sunday, January 23rd (2022)
With the NFL playoffs slated for later in the day, college basketball starts as early as 12:00 PM on the east coast with no shortage of action to choose from. The hard part is sifting through the noise to identify where the value lies.
Letâs take a closer look.

Xavier vs. Marquette: Marquette +2 (-110)
(2:00 p.m. ET tip)
The Marquette Golden Eagles will look to make it six straight this afternoon, as they welcome in a Xavier team that leads them by a game in the Big East. After a slow start to conference play, new head coach Shaka Smart has guided them over three top 25 opponents on their recent five-game streak.
The visiting Musketeers also come into this one on a bit of a run, having won three of four and scoring 79 points per game in the process. In this one, however, I like the Golden Eagles to get revenge for a December 18th loss (80-71) and pick up yet another home victory.
Arizona vs. California: Arizona -13.5 (-110)
(4:30 p.m. ET tip)
This line opened overnight as Arizona -12.5 and quickly moved a full point. But I donât think itâs done yet.
After a two-year hiatus from being amongst the elite teams in the country, the Wildcats appear to be very much back as theyâre now #3 in the country as March quickly approaches. Currently ranked #2 in the country in points per game (88.3), #1 in offensive rebounds per game, and #4 in FG% (50.2%), Arizona is again the offensive powerhouse they once were.
On the other hand, Cal is decidedly not, as they rank #318 in points per game at just 64.6. Look for the Wildcats to roll in this one as they pick up their fifth straight and stay undefeated in PAC-12 play.
