Top College Basketball Picks for Tuesday, December 14 (2021)

Yesterday, our best bets went 2-1 for another profitable day. We’ll look to continue that success with tonight’s games. I’ve got three more plays I’m interested in. Let’s get right to it. Here are my three best bets for Tuesday, December 14 in college basketball.

Northwestern State vs. LSU: LSU -33.5 (-110)

(7:00 PM ET tip)

Am I crazy for thinking LSU can win this game by 50? Northwestern State has one of the worst offenses in the nation. With an effective field goal percentage of 47.2 percent and a turnover rate of 22.8 percent, there’s just no way Northwestern State even comes close to LSU in this game. LSU has one of the best defenses in the nation and is turning the ball over at 27.5 percent.

Meanwhile, Northwestern State’s defense allows an effective field goal percentage of 58.8 percent. They’re giving up 37.8 percent from downtown and 60.3 percent from inside the arc. The Tigers can absolutely put a beatdown on Northwestern State and cover this spread.

St. Francis PA vs. Hartford: Hartford -1 (-110)

(7:00 PM ET tip)

The Hartford Hawks have the much better offense in this matchup. Hartford is shooting an effective field goal percentage of 53.8 percent while shooting 35.3 percent from long range and 54.5 percent from inside. Turnovers have been an issue without lead point guard DeJuan Clayton. However, Hartford should have no problem offensively against St. Francis PA at home.

On the other hand, Hartford isn’t going to beat you by forcing a bunch of turnovers. The defense has been a bit shaky this season, but that’s also because Hartford has barely played any home games and has played a bunch of potential league champions. Tonight, Hartford bounces back with a huge victory at home.

Little Rock vs. Central Arkansas: Little Rock -135

(8:00 PM ET tip)

This isn’t the most exciting game on tonight’s slate, but it’s one with value. Little Rock is getting to the line at a much higher rate than Central Arkansas and will likely win the game at the line knowing how fast this game will be played. Central Arkansas has also struggled to limit offensive rebounds, and while Little Rock isn’t all that great at earning second chances, that number will more than likely increase tonight against Central Arkansas.

Little Rock has struggled a bit down low this season and has faced a ton of fast-paced, three-point shooting teams. Central Arkansas is fast-paced but not a great shooting team. Little Rock should be prepared to go against this style of offense and should be able to earn more turnovers. Little Rock is just flat-out better.
