Top College Basketball Picks for Tuesday, February 22 (2022)

It was another dud day for me, after going 1-2 last night. Our moneyline action didn’t exactly go as planned yesterday, but at least we hit our team total to help us go 1-2 instead of 0-3. Let’s get it back today, with three more picks in college basketball for February 22.

Yale vs. Dartmouth: Yale -135

(7:00 p.m. ET)

The Yale Bulldogs are currently fighting for first place in the Ivy League against Princeton and Penn. Dartmouth isn’t in the picture. They’re currently near the bottom of the standings and just 4-4 at home this year.

In early February, Yale defeated Dartmouth, 72-69, at home, and that’s how most Ivy League games have gone. Most of these games are tight but usually, the better team pushes away in the final minutes.

Right now, Dartmouth is on a two-game winning streak and had an uncharacteristic outlier game against Cornell to start it off. Then Dartmouth dominated a really bad Columbia team. But now, it’s back to reality. The Big Green have to face a Yale team that has run the Ivy League for most of the decade.

Yale has defended the three well, holding teams to just a 31.2 percent percentage, and Dartmouth loves to shoot the three, despite shooting just 33 percent on the season. Plus, Dartmouth only earns 24.1 percent offensive rebounds. If Yale can hold Dartmouth from the field and from rebounding, it’ll be a wide-margin victory for Yale.

Arkansas vs. Florida: Over 136 (-110)

(7:00 p.m. ET)

What a stretch this could be for Florida. The Gators knocked off Auburn at home 63-62 and now have the chance to beat another ranked opponent in Arkansas at home. That game against Auburn was a low-scoring game, with many back-and-forth runs and action.

This game screams the over. Despite shooting only 30.5 percent from behind the arc, Florida continues to shoot a whole lot of threes. Meanwhile, Arkansas is an offense that uses just 16.5 seconds per possession. Florida is good at getting back in transition and holding opponents to tough shots, but Arkansas’ game plan will be to get out in transition and score early against Florida.

Plus, both teams have a knack for getting to the line at a high rate, and both teams shoot at an above-average rate. I’ll take the over here.

Villanova vs. UConn: Villanova +2 (-110)

(8:00 p.m. ET)

This is the most exciting game of the slate tonight. Villanova already defeated UConn in the first game of the series at home, scoring over 80 points in that one.

Meanwhile, the Huskies scored 30 points in the final 10 minutes of that game and hung around because of that. I think we’ll see less scoring in this game and more defense. Villanova is a tough out, regardless of being home or away, and while a lot of the sharp and public money is coming in on UConn, I think you’d be crazy not to consider Villanova as an underdog.

Anytime you can get Villanova as an underdog, knowing the Wildcats have already won 21 games this season, it’s worth a look. The Wildcats are elite, and if the defense can just get slightly better, I’d consider Villanova as an NCAA Champion contender.

Bet: Villanova +2 (-110) at DraftKings Sportsbook
